Hopscotch's Story
Say hello to your new best friend!

If happiness had four legs and a nonstop wagging tail, it would be Hopscotch! This (almost) 2-yr-old, 65 lb, exuberant boy spent some time as a stray, so his history is a bit of a mystery, but what we do know is he's absolutely stoked about life. Hopscotch greets each day with full-body wiggles, enthusiastic kisses, and the occasional flying paw. He's playful, affectionate, and always ready for whatever comes next. He's obsessed with people and getting pets. He loves walks and exploring, squeaky toys and puzzles, car rides, and playing.

Hopscotch loves meeting other dogs. He is still learning how to control his enthusiasm during play, though, so it's best to stick to on-leash greetings for now.

A fenced yard would be great for zoomies but he also enjoys checking out all the scents on a good long hike. A trip to doggy daycare is always swell, too. You provide the adventure; Hopscotch will provide the energy!

With an affinity for treats and attention, and a desire to please, Hopscotch is very trainable. He knows some basic commands - sit, down, stay and shake - and is working on a few new ones. We wouldn't say his leash manners are refined yet, but they are improving daily with aforementioned encouragement and yummy treats as incentives. He's also working on not door dashing and not jumping up to greet his human friends - he just loves everyone SO MUCH!

A good guard dog, Hopscotch will bark at unfamiliar sounds but is not an excessive barker. He is fully house-broken. When left alone in his foster home (an hour or so at a time so far), he has been a good boy.

This big boy is very energetic and will require an active family willing to give him plenty of exercise. Hopscotch finds managing his energy and impulse control a challenge and sometimes gets quite mouthy in his play with humans. A structured environment and continued training to correct this is critical. Due to his size and energy level, only homes with large breed savvy children who are 10+ will be considered. He has not been tested with cats but we have a feeling he may like to chase them.

Hopscotch is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots and ready to meet his forever family.
