Meet Hopper. <br/><br/>Sometimes a dog comes into your life and you can't help but wonder how, after everything they've been through, they can still be so incredibly kind.<br/><br/>Hopper is only about 8 months old, but he has already experienced more than most dogs ever should.<br/><br/>He was found as a stray with serious injuries and brought into an already overcrowded rural shelter. No rescue was stepping up, but Hopper desperately needed help. The shelter knew they couldn't let him suffer, so they did everything they could to raise the funds needed for surgery. Ultimately, the only option was to amputate one of his legs.<br/><br/>And Hopper never looked back. <br/><br/>He recovered beautifully and quickly began figuring out this new three-legged life of his. But while Hopper was healing, the shelter continued filling up. And filling up. Until there simply wasn't anywhere left for dogs to go.<br/><br/>They reached out to us quite literally at CODE RED. They had no space, more dogs continuing to come through their doors, and Hopper - despite everything he had already survived - was once again running out of options.<br/><br/>They told us how special he was. How gentle he was. How desperately they wanted to see him make it out.<br/><br/>We couldn't say no.<br/><br/>And now that we've met him, we understand exactly why they fought so hard for this boy. <br/><br/>Hopper is quite literally one of the sweetest, most loving dogs we have ever met. There isn't an ounce of resentment in this little guy. He is gentle, calm, affectionate and seems to love absolutely everyone and everything he meets. All he wants is to be close to you and soak up every bit of love you're willing to give him.<br/><br/>And don't let those three legs fool you - Hopper gets around incredibly well. He's still learning how to navigate the world on three legs, but every single day he gets a little more confident. He doesn't know he's different. He just knows that he's safe, he's loved, and life is finally getting better.<br/><br/>At only 8 months old, Hopper has gone from an injured stray, to a shelter dog needing an amputation, to a three-legged puppy facing an overcrowded shelter with nowhere left to go.<br/><br/>But that is not where his story is going to end.<br/><br/>So many people have already chosen to fight for Hopper. The shelter staff who refused to give up on him. The people who donated toward his surgery. And now the people who helped make room for us to say yes.<br/><br/>There's just one person left who needs to choose him.<br/><br/>His forever person. <br/><br/>Hopper has spent enough of his short life simply surviving.
