Hopper's Story
Meet Hopper!

Hopper is a male, Catahoula Leopard dog and about 3 years old. Typical for his breed, Hopper is smart, high energy and extremely athletic! He wants nothing more than to play with his humans and loves to chase a ball, play tug or play with a flirt pole. When first meeting new people he is a little nervous and reserved but once he is comfortable he is the most loving, friendliest boy! Slow introductions work best as sometimes he barks when meeting new people. He does best with someone who gives him his time and space to get comfortable! Once he gets to know you, he is your best friend- he shows his sweet, fun, and goofy side! He likes engaging and working with his humans- which is typical for his breed- and he loves to learn! He is doing well with obedience training and his current skills are recall, down, place, and heel.

He rides very well in the car, is amazing in his crate, and does well with nail trims! He does well around other dogs and has shown zero interest in playing with the dogs in his foster home. He loves to steal toys from the dogs in his foster home and uses his speed to run away with it. He does have a high prey drive and will try to chase smaller animals, including cats. With guidance in his foster home, he is able to be calm around the cat, but wouldn't recommend without supervision.

He would do best in an active home, with appropriate drive outlets, like playing in the yard and with his toys- but he also enjoys to get out of the house to sniff and explore! He will require an owner who is committed to continued training, socialization, and take the time to give him guidance on how to be successful in their every day life.

He is being fostered in Richmond, VA and is up to date on vaccinations and monthly preventatives, neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $350. To apply to adopt Hopper, visit www.beaglesandbentleys.org/adopt.

Note: Sending a Petfinder inquiry is not submitting an application. We require a completed adoption application to move forward with adoption.

Beagles and Bentleys has an across-the-board evaluative process that we apply to every application we review that prioritizes our animals in need. We conduct a vet reference check (all resident dogs must be altered/up to date on dhpp/rabies and monthly preventatives) and a virtual home visit call where we discuss the adoption process and see your home.
