Meet Hope - in Maine

Hope - Maine - Updated December 2023

How gorgeous is Hope? She will be one year old very soon and now is 50-55 lbs. Mom was a smaller mixed breed dog, about 35 lbs, and Dad isn't talking. She is SO ready for a home of her own. Hope is an incredible survivor already. She and her 4 sisters survived parvo but sadly lost their brothers. The girls are happy and healthy now, loving life!

Hope is doing amazing in her foster home. Her energy level is medium and once she gets a good walk or some romping she will chill with you on the couch. Like most young dogs she will find her own ways to get her energy out like chewing, jumping etc. if she doesn't get exercise with her humans. Typical teenager dog! If she’s been crated for a long day you can expect a hyper pup when you get home. She likes cats but really wants to play with them so not every cat appreciates that. A playful dog friend would probably occupy her enough to leave the cats to their own devices.

Hope enjoys playing tug, fetch, chase and soccer. Loves the flirt pole, and is an excellent paper/cardboard shredder. She likes to see the Amazon delivery guy as much as we do ; 0 ) Hope is food-motivated and cheese is her favorite.

She can be nervous around new people, and small children in particular so we would recommend children 10 and older that are dog-savvy. Once she knows you, Hope becomes a champion snuggler and will be your shadow!

Hope does well crated during the night and when her humans are not home. She is fed in the crate so it’s her happy place. A high value treat sends her running right to her crate for nap time. She is doing great with potty training but occasionally if the humans miss her signs she has had an accident so the crate is still useful. She enjoys car rides.

Right now Hope is in foster as an “only” and doing well but we think another playful dog to wrestle with would be a bonus. She is very comfortable with other dogs. One thing to note is that Hope’s new family should plan on everyone being home at first for the first few days so that she bonds with her “core family” and doesn’t treat them as intruders. Continued training for this sweet girl to build her confidence would be a great investment! She is such a LOVE!

If you have interest in meeting Hope or any of our cuties, please fill out the adoption application here: http://www.luckypuprescue.org/adoption-application.

Please note: we do not have a physical facility where our dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout New England. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.

Thank you for considering rescue!
