Hop's Story

FROM TRAFFIC DODGER TO TOY COLLECTOR — MEET HOP 🚗
Once upon a not-so-fun day, a little white dog was literally hopping through traffic trying to survive.
Now? He’s hopping straight into toy bins, fenced yards, and hopefully… your heart. Huge thank you to Elise for stopping that morning, we know and love that kind heart.
Meet Hop. And yes—the name stuck for a reason.
He’s about 2 years old, ~16 lbs, and fully committed to living life at full speed (with the occasional crash landing into your legs because… enthusiasm). We see Bichon mix—what do you see?
Hop is what we lovingly call a “joyful overachiever”—
• Plays fetch like it’s an Olympic sport
• Invents his own version of soccer
• Thinks every dog is his new best friend (even if they need a minute 😅)
• Has never met a stranger—only future fans
He’s happy, curious, and just a little… extra in the best way.
(Translation: he’s got big puppy energy and will absolutely keep you entertained.)
The good stuff:
• Crate trained — mostly sleeps quietly all night and while you’re at work. Took a bit to get there so continued work needed.
• Likes leash walks but could use a bit more training.
• Already knows “sit” (because snacks = motivation)
• LOVES toys… all of them… possibly at once
• Friendly, social, and full of love
The “still learning” stuff (because real life matters):
• Potty training is in progress (no poop accidents, we’re halfway winning!)
• Recently just neutered — marking habits improving but will need consistency
• Can be a bit of a “body slam enthusiast” with other dogs
• Came from a crated life, so he’s catching up on how to dog properly. He for was dark yellow from sitting in his own urine so his kennel learning and house training needs are a sad by product of neglect.
What Hop needs:
An active home that will embrace his energy, keep him engaged, and continue his training journey. A fenced yard is basically his dream come true. Bonus points if you appreciate a dog who plays hard, loves big, and lives like every day is the best day ever. He is mouthy with delayed pup behavior but corrects well do small children are iffy, plus he may ball them over.
Also… that white coat? It didn’t start that way. He’ll need regular grooming to keep him looking as fresh as his new life feels.
Hop didn’t have much of a start—but wow, is he making up for it now.
Knoxville, TN
Apply at: RecycledBestFriends.org

Our standard adoption fees are $250.00, this could vary based on breed. We have a standard application process for both fostering and adoption to ensure the best match for our dogs and families. • All applicants must complete an application, which includes questions, a veterinary reference, and two personal references. • Once submitted, an application reviewer will carefully evaluate the information and contact both the veterinary and personal references. • After the review is complete, the Director will follow up with the applicant directly to discuss the application in more detail. • The Director will then determine approval status and help match the applicant with the dog that best fits their home and lifestyle. As part of the process, approved applicants are required to attend a meet-and-greet with all household members—including current dogs—to ensure a safe and successful match.
