Honeycrisp HTX's Story

Honeycrisp’s story begins with heartbreak—but it quickly turns into one of resilience, devotion, and quiet strength. Found abandoned on the side of McIntosh Road with her seven tiny puppies, just three weeks old, this incredible mama had clearly been doing everything she could to keep her babies safe despite impossible circumstances. All eight were covered in fleas and in need of care, but thanks to a timely rescue and veterinary treatment, they’re now on the road to a much brighter future.

In honor of where they were found, the litter was lovingly named the “Apple” crew—and their devoted mom became Honeycrisp. The name couldn’t be more fitting.

Honeycrisp is the very definition of a gentle giant. She has a calm, easygoing presence that immediately puts everyone around her at ease. Sweet as her name suggests, she adores affection and will gently lean in for pets, happily soaking up any love you’re willing to give. Despite everything she’s been through, she remains incredibly trusting and people-oriented, often seeking out human companionship and even asking for help caring for her puppies.

She’s wonderful with other dogs, does well with cats, and is gentle and patient with children. Honeycrisp simply loves being around people—whether it’s lounging nearby, following you from room to room, or quietly watching over her little ones.

After proving herself to be such a dedicated and loving mom, Honeycrisp is more than ready for a forever home where she can finally be cared for the way she deserves. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and calm companion, Honeycrisp is ready to fill your home—and your heart—with love.

Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
Thanks for considering rescue with TGPR! We’ll start by contacting your vet to confirm that all current pets (yes, even cats!) are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, and on heartworm prevention. Next, we’ll reach out to your three personal references to get to know you better and help identify great matches for your lifestyle. If you rent, please let your landlord know we’ll be calling to confirm large dogs are allowed. Then we’ll schedule a home visit, a friendly in-person chat to see your setup and share Pyr tips! Once approved, you’ll be able to connect with fosters to find your perfect match. Approvals are good for a year! And remember: TGPR commits to our dogs for life. If anything ever changes and you can’t keep your Pyr, we’ll always take them back. Let us know if you have any questions. We’re excited to help you find your floof!
