Honey's Story
** If you are interested in Honey, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ **

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness! Honey is a tiny 5 week old Chihuahua mix puppy who currently weighs just 1.5 pounds. We expect she'll be a small adult, likely around 8 to 10 pounds when fully grown, though that's just our best estimate. Honey's mom is full grown at 10lbs.

As for breed? Your guess is almost as good as ours! We do not DNA test our rescue dogs, and since the dad is a complete mystery, we can only make educated guesses. Mom appears to be a Chihuahua and Italian Greyhound mix. We suspect the pups could have some Pug in them too.

Honey's story began in rural New Mexico, where her mom was adopted from a shelter that unfortunately does not spay or neuter dogs before adoption. Her adopter had no idea she was pregnant. When life circumstances changed, mom and her litter of six gorgeous, 4 week old puppies were surrendered to one of our rescue partners shelters, and we were able to step in and bring this little family to safety.

Honey is still with her mom and littermates, learning all the important puppy lessons that help babies grow into happy, well-adjusted dogs. She will be ready for adoption on July 3rd!

Honey is looking for a family ready for all the fun, laughter, training, and occasional chaos that comes with a young puppy. Puppies require patience, consistency, socialization, training, and lots of love as they learn about the world around them. In return, you'll get the incredible experience of watching a tiny puppy grow into your best friend.

We feel that Honey would do great in a home with someone who works from home, and has the time and energy to train a young puppy. We would feel comfortable with her going to a family with kids 6+ years of age.

Since Honey is just a puppy, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. We are not willing to adopt to someone who is unable to commit to taking Honey to puppy socialization classes and training.

Honey, being so young, will only have her first puppy shot at the time of being ready for adoption. It is VERY important that her adopter get her the 2nd and 3rd shot when those are due. It is SO important to know that Honey cannot go out on public ground until she has her last 2 booster shots.

Honey is also too young to be spayed at this time. Farfel's does not cover any vaccines after pick up, however we DO cover the full cost of her spay when that time comes. Honey is too young to be spayed, but when she is 6-8 months old we will cover the full cost.
Spay is REQUIRED to finalize any adoption. Per the state of Colorado, you will be legally considered a foster until the dog is spayed. Spay must be done before or by the time she turns 1 year old, NO later.

You can SEE MORE PHOTOS AND VIDEOS of Berry and all 6 of her puppies on this google drive:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1EULhu1bv5jb9IQZgphFAm6exaVjqTFyw

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.

Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out 400 dogs each year.

Honey will be available to go home on July 9th. Applications are being accepted now.
If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool we have to determine a great match for this very deserving pup. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
