Honey was seized in a hoarding case. She is a feral dog. She is available for adoption or foster from the Pet Adoption League of New York Chow Chow Rescue (palofny501c3@gmail.com), on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/PALofNY.

Honey is five years old and weighs 45 pounds. She is heartworm positive and under treatment. She is currently living in Monterey VA in a household with 15 other well-socialized dogs. Honey loves all the dogs and they love her. Honey hangs out with the dogs in the yard, and even shares her knucklebones, shinbones, pigs ears and stuffed Kongs with them!

Honey does not want anything to do with her human caregiver. She will come up to her and take a treat from her hand; she will come in the house through the doggy door asking for her dinner; she will eat her dinner right in front of her human. But she will not allow herself to be touched. Honey prefers to sleep in the woodshed rather than the house. She has no objection to another dog or two taking a nap with her.

Honey would make a wonderful "pet" for someone who has a fenced yard and a nice sturdy wooden elevated dog house with an offset door that can be covered with a flap in inclement weather, and filled with straw in the winter. A heating pad or heat lamp would be a necessity if you can't get Honey to come inside. Honey will let you enjoy your yard but she will be on constant alert for your whereabouts, and she will stay on the move in order to keep a distance between you and her. But she will be a great friend for your dog(s) so if you have a desire to help a dog who had sorry beginnings, Honey will be happy to live with you and your pack. In fact, Honey requires a pack. She would be miserable if she had no canine companions.

PLEASE IGNORE the following text. It is automatically generated by LBDR's website and does not apply to this dog.Adoption fees are $200 unless otherwise stated. Senior residents of Dot's Old Dogs Home are generally not available for adoption. 100% of adoption fees are put back into the rescue so that another lonely and neglected chained/penned dog or yard-sale dog can be rescued. We are grateful for your interest.

Upon approval, the adoption fee is non-refundable. The fee includes the following: de-worming; grooming (if applicable); heartworm, lymes, ehrlichia and anaplasmosis testing; all vaccinations including rabies; flea and tick treatment, microchipping and spay/neuter.
