Honey's Story

Honey

Let’s try this again! Honey is once again looking for her true forever family. This girl is 90% sweet with her fluffy white coat, but 10% spicy with her black pepper spots.

Honey Bunny is approximately two years old and weighs 70 pounds. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines and preventatives, housebroken, heartworm negative, crate trained, has basic obedience commands like come, sit, down, roll over, shake, up, off, leave it, hush, and responds to other words like inside, outside, and eat. It took her no time at all to learn to jump through a hula hoop and is capable of learning many more tricks! She walks fairly well on a leash and loves to stick her head out the car window (but beware of drool!) One of her favorite things is to stand on her hind legs with her front ones across our arm for pets. If you’re tall enough and strong enough, she even likes to be held! She takes treats so gently you barely know it left your hand. She hates baths, tolerates brushing, and has no fear of storms or fireworks. When she has an unmet need, like if she has to go out or if you’ve failed to notice it’s dinnertime, she will stare you directly in the eye and give little whimpers to let you know.

This sweet girl came to us after a stray hold at a shelter. She’s grown so tall and fluffy we think she may have some Pyrenees in her. Honey loves to play with her foster brothers, but doesn’t care for strange dogs. She can usually walk by them just fine but does not want to be nose to nose. She also doesn’t love children, though I believe she can learn to. We did have a cat in the house for a week, however their time together was limited. She was gentle when they met.

Your home will be safe under Honey’s watchful eye, however the wildlife in your yard may not be. Part of her spicy side is her strong drive to chase birds, squirrels, rabbits, frogs, lizards, her foster brother when he’s fetching a ball… she even tried to chomp a bee recently. We are working on decreasing the thrill of the chase. Due to this strong urge, Honey’s home needs to have a tall fence.

Honey is sweetness, safety, and sass all in one tall, furry, loveable pup. She’s a smart girl who wants to be loved. She will steal your heart as she’s stolen ours.

Please visit our website to complete an application for adoption.
https://prbcr.org/border-collies-available-for-adoption/border-collie-adoption-application/

Phoenix Rising Border Collie Rescue needs a satisfactory vet reference with records of the annual exams, vaccines, heartworm tests, and purchase records for your dogs monthly year round heartworm preventatives, and vetting for cats.
