Honey's Story

🐶 Basics
• Honey / Charlotte
• Age / Size: 1YO, 35 lbs.
• Rescued in Texas

💛 Personality Snapshot
• Describe in 3–5 words: sweet, calm, cuddly, curious, affectionate, playful (with other dogs)
• Energy level (Low / Moderate / High): Moderate. Very quiet, but enjoys running in the park
• More people‑oriented or independent? People oriented
• How do they handle new situations? Very well. A little scared by noise

🐕 Social & Home Life
• How are they with people (adults/kids/new people)? Extremely friendly
• How are they with other dogs? Extremely friendly
• Cats or other animals (if known)? NA
• Behavior when left alone or when guests visit: Very calm, loves to be pet

🎓 Training & Manners
• Potty trained? Relatively, working on a consistent routine
• Crate trained? Not aware, we are not using it
• Leash skills: good, she pulls a bit.
• Commands known (if any): sit and stay. she is responsive when told to not do something

🌞 Daily Life
• Typical day with you: She follows you everywhere. She sleeps in in her bed (also alone in a room) without issue, but love lying in bed with us. She has to be called for meals; comes close when we are eating, but does not beg too much for food. She has 1 or 2 long walks in the park per day, plus 2 around the block.
• Exercise needs: 30’ of running in the park with other dogs or playing fetch are enough, she loses interest after a while
• Favorite activities or toys: nothing specific, apart from sleeping, cuddle and run in the park.

🌱 Growth Areas
• Anything they’re still working on? Needs to become more aware of city risks (i.e. when crossing the street)
• What helps them succeed? Consistency in her schedule, praise for doing the right thing

🏡 Ideal Home
• Only dog / With dog / Either: Either
• Good fit for apartment living? Perfect. She doesn’t even go to the patio unless she’s asked to
• Best type of household (active, moderate, calm): I would say any type
• What kind of adopter would be the best match? I don’t think there is a best match, I would say anyone. We did not see her interacting with children yet, but her temperament around people is always very calm and gentle.

💙 Foster Note

Honey is a sweet and calm dog, almost low maintenance. She gets bathed/cleaned without fuss, and her only ask is to be around you whenever there is room to sit or lay down. She is also very quiet (never barked once) and will patiently wait in a room alone without creating any mess or damage until you return.

She is good off leash, likes playing with other dogs, and adapted to our house rules almost immediately. She can be skittish sometimes and seems to be afraid of any kind of grid: on the sidewalk, the staircase rail, also the furnace grates on the floor. She will stay inside rather than crossing it to enjoy the outdoors from our patio.

**Honey previously tested positive for heartworm and was treated before she left Texas**

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
To adopt Honey, apply on our website www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt and email adopt.truenorthrescue@gmail.com to follow up on your application.

PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.

Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!

True North Pet Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy
First Step: Submit Your Application True North does not issue blanket approvals, we consider the needs of each specific dog when reviewing applications. If you don't have a specific dog in mind when applying, please note this on your application so that we can keep this in mind when reviewing. We require home photos for all applicants, but can accept a video replacement. Please enter as much detail as possible on your application, this helps us better understand what you are looking for and how this relates to the needs of the dog you have applied for. For puppies under 12 weeks, we require a care plan. This includes a plan for when the dog will be left alone, as puppies younger than 12 weeks should not be left alone longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Please Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to reply to everyone. If your application is approved, you can expect the following. Second Step: Application Review & Approval 1. If your application is approved, an email will be sent connecting you with the dog's current foster. At this time, you may schedule a mutually convenient time to meet. 2. After meeting, you have 24 hours to confirm if you would like to move forward with finalizing the adoption. After this, if we have not heard from you, we will begin scheduling other meets. 3. If you choose to finalize, we will issue an adoption contract via email. Once the signed agreement has been electronically returned along with the adoption fee (which will be disclosed prior to adopting), you will be all set to coordinate for pick-up with the foster! Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees are comparable to those found amongst other well-known rescues in the city. We only accept electronic payments for adoption fees.
