Honey's Story
If Honey could design her ideal life, it would probably include a cozy home, a favorite person close by, some good snacks, and plenty of time to do things at her own pace. But don't let her senior status fool you — Honey still has plenty of pep in her step and enjoys showing it off when the mood strikes!

Honey can be a little reserved when she first meets someone or finds herself in an unfamiliar situation. Once she realizes she's safe and can trust you, though, her sweet personality really starts to shine. She loves being near her people and is perfectly content to follow you around the house, settle nearby, and soak up affection. Belly rubs are especially appreciated, and she's always happy to spend some quality cuddle time with her favorite person.

She has lovely house manners and is fully potty trained. Honey walks beautifully on her harness and enjoys leisurely strolls where she can take in all the sights and smells along the way. At home, she enjoys her toys and will occasionally have a burst of playful energy that reminds everyone she's not quite ready to act her age just yet. Once she's gotten that out of her system, she's more than happy to settle back into a comfortable spot.

Honey does experience some separation anxiety when left alone, so she's looking for a home where she can have plenty of companionship. She would also prefer to be the only dog, where she can relax without having to share her people and enjoy being the household's one-and-only.

And as an older lady, Honey has earned the right to have a few little senior quirks. She has some age-related needs and changes that will be discussed openly with her potential adopter before adoption. They're simply part of the package when you choose a seasoned little companion — and Honey has plenty of love, personality, and life left to share.

Honey would thrive with someone who appreciates a quieter lifestyle but still enjoys a little playful energy now and then. Give her patience, consistency, affection, and a comfortable place to call home, and she'll happily fill the role of your loyal little sidekick.

They were rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas.

Meet and greets are by appointment only. An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events!

We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time. When we do, it will be updated here. This is all the information we have currently.

Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above. Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog.
If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded.
Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance. We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets.
The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.
More questions?
