Hondo's Story

Hello, my name is: Hondo
Approx. DOB: 07/06/2024
Weight: 50 lbs
Sex/Breed: Neutered male bully mix
Rescued From: Abandoned

Hondo’s story began when a kind stranger found him wandering alone through a neighborhood. From the moment they met him, it was clear he had once belonged to someone. His gentle nature, impeccable manners, and easygoing personality made it hard to imagine he hadn't been loved before. His finder spent weeks searching for his family, hoping someone would come forward for this special boy. Sadly, no one ever did, leaving us heartbroken that someone could simply walk away from such a wonderful dog.

Despite everything he's been through, Hondo remains the definition of a gentle soul. In new environments, he can be a little shy and unsure of himself. He just needs a few days to decompress, settle in, and realize he's safe. Once he does, his sweet, affectionate personality emerges—and it's impossible not to fall in love with this little hippo.

Hondo's favorite pastime is perfecting the art of being a couch potato. If he had his way, he'd happily spend the day snuggled up next to his people, soaking up every bit of love and affection they have to offer. Although he was initially nervous about walking on a leash, he's grown much more confident in foster care and now enjoys leisurely walks.

He's a low-maintenance guy who finds joy in life's simple pleasures: toys, tasty treats, a good chew bone, and the company of people he trusts. Hondo is crate trained, appears to be house trained, and is highly food motivated, making him eager to learn and easy to train. He's also done well with other dogs after proper introductions and truly enjoys having canine friends to play with and being part of a pack.

More than anything, Hondo deserves a family who will show him the love, stability, and lifelong commitment he's always deserved. Even after being left behind, he continues to greet the world with a wagging tail and an open heart. Now all this sweet little hippo needs is a forever family to give him the happy ending he's been waiting for.

All our pets are microchipped, spayed/neutered, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.
Interested in adopting? All 4 Paws Rescue's Adoption Policy
All 4 Paws is a foster-based rescue located in Malvern, PA. Since all of our dogs live in foster homes (instead of in a shelter environment), we are able to learn a tremendous amount about them and their needs. This helps us make great matches between our adopters and their new best friends! We do our best to keep the adoption process straight-forward and simple in an effort to get our available pets into permanent, stable and loving homes in a timely manner. Our Adoption Process: 1. You submit an application. You can submit an application by clicking the appropriate application button at the bottom of this page. If you have already been approved by or adopted from All 4 Paws, select the "Previously Approved" application for a shortened version. Be sure to include what you are looking for in your new pet as it helps us with the matchmaking process! 2. We contact your references. We will contact your vet (if you have/had a pet), your landlord/property manager (if applicable), along with a few personal references right away. Please let all references know that we will be contacting them. This will help us to speed things along! 3. We send an email notifying you of the status of your application. Please note: We get a lot of interest in our dogs and there is no guarantee that an approved application will secure your adoption of the dog you expressed interest in. 4. If approved, you work directly with our Adoptions Team to discuss our dogs and to set up an adoption appointment. We’re happy to adopt to out-of-state families! Please note that, in accordance with our PA Kennel License, all adoptions must be completed in person at our Malvern, PA office. You can also meet a few of our dogs at once at our Meet & Greet Events. Events are a great opportunity to speak with our fosters and volunteers to discuss all of our dogs. Our adoption fee for dogs is $500+tax. This fee includes a wellness exam, all age-appropriate vaccines, spay/neuter surgery, heartworm testing (when age appropriate), worming, microchip and registration, flea/tick prevention, as well as any additional care recommended by our vet (i.e. dental cleanings, bloodwork, etc.). PLEASE NOTE: We do offer discounted adoption fees to families adopting more than one dog, senior dogs, and dogs with special needs, when possible. You can see all of our currently adoptable dogs on our website or on our Facebook page. We rescue new dogs daily so if someone doesn't catch your eye right now, we're sure to have a pup that matches what you are looking for soon! Please stick with us and be patient - we promise your new best friend will be well worth the wait!
