Little Homer Simp stops people in their tracks — a glossy black coat, bright expressive eyes, and a joyful little puppy face that truly smiles at the world. Homer is outgoing, energetic, and eager to please. He enjoys meeting new people of all shapes and sizes, playing with robust happy-go-lucky large dogs, and training. He loves toys as well as exploring, and settles beautifully once he’s had his fun. Indoors, he’s polite and curious; outdoors, he’s a happy little adventurer. He’s calm in the car (even a convertible with the top down!), clean/quiet in his crate, and making great progress towards house training on a predictable and frequent schedule.<br/><br/>Homer is very engaging with humans and has never met a stranger! He also loves play time with other large, goofy dogs, and does well in playgroups of dogs like this. Homer's perfect dog-match in his new home would probably be a large dog(s) who is goofy, not territorial, able to correct a young and obnoxious puppy fairly, and not a resource guarder or one who overreacts. Small, submissive and non-playful dogs would not find Homer endearing. Homer is living with a cat and doing well, and he could also thrive as an only dog with all of your attention!<br/><br/>Homer needs<br/><br/>an attentive person/family who is familiar with dog behavior and committed to any necessary training, including continuing to guide him through the basics of housetraining, leash walking, and manners, as well as continued socialization with humans, the world and other dogs. Homer has the temperament, intelligence, and eagerness that will make his life journey not only enjoyable but also extremely rewarding for the right adopter.<br/><br/>Does Homer sound like the co-pilot you have been looking for?<br/><br/>Homer's Backstory:<br/><br/>Homer and his sister Maggie came from a rural property where the two puppies had been abandoned. Despite that rough start, both pups have shown nothing but confidence, resilience, and a natural trust in people. They were<br/><br/>raised in an active rural<br/><br/>foster home with 10 acres, adults, kids, and other well balanced dogs, giving them a strong foundation in social skills, lots of exercise,<br/><br/>and daily routine.
