Hoagie Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler & Labrador Retriever Mix South Windsor, CT

Hi my name is Hoagie. I am a 1.5 year old male Australian Cattle Dog/Labrador mix. This might surprise you, but I have not had the best life here in New England. I was passed from home to home several times during my short life on earth and wound up very confused. I am in a wonderful foster home now where I am getting lots of love, consistency, and a "brush up course" on some basic command training. One of the biggest and BEST changes in moving to my foster home is that I get to live with other dogs! I love the company of other dogs for both playtime and companionship. My foster mom says I am a very sweet boy who just needs a forever home where I can put down "roots" and establish trust with my person. I love people and would be a great companion dog for someone who is active and around more times than not. I would love a fenced yard in my forever home and a doggie companion to run and play with freely. Or perhaps doggie daycare as I have been there too and made lots of friends. I possess the typical herding dog trait of "herding" and I also get very excited to see someone come home so can be a little jumpy, but I am hard at work with my foster mom to greet her more calmly. For those reasons, I would probably do best with older children who can correct me. I am house trained and love car rides, hikes, runs, walks and water. I am also the perfect size of 45lbs and full grown. I am very smart and learn quickly. I was even trained for off leash recall by a prior owner, but am good on a harness and leash too.

I am neutered, vaccinated, healthy and ready to find my forever home. I am located in New England already too so no waiting for transport from the South!
