Hilo's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

26-013 Hilo, who is now named Kino, is a 1-year-old male Golden-with-Husky mix. Even though the surrendering owners didn’t have the time to dedicate to him, it was still an emotional surrender. Fortunately for Kino, an adopter and her family have become his forever home! Here is an interesting fact on his new name. He is named after Father Kino who was a Jesuit missionary, explorer, and cartographer in the Arizona borderlands. The adopter paints a lovely picture of Kino’s demeanor:

A sweet, well-mannered boy, rather mellow and quiet, very intelligent and absolutely gorgeous! He has very striking blue eyes like his Husky parentage. Kino is enjoying his new Golden siblings as they play non-stop. The adopter says: He’s settling in well and gaining confidence. We will work on leash training and not jumping up with his front paws. Those are really his only deficits.

Kino, being an affectionate dog, will climb into your lap for hugs and pets. Besides being affectionate, he adores his stuffies and playing with balls. And get this, he LOVES being chased! Michael Phelps might have a challenger in his midst, as Kino is an excellent swimmer. He daintily eats his food, relishing it while he savors the salmon kibble and treats. Did you know this about Huskies? They sleep in a doughnut shape with their tail covering their nose! That’s how you can find Kino sleeping! Car rides, meeting new people and dogs are some of his favorite activities.

These sentiments from the adopter say it all: We love him!
