Hickory's Story
[MORE PHOTOS AND A VIDEO TO BE POSTED SOON]

Born October 21, Hickory and her 6 siblings were surrendered to a Canadian shelter with their Mom at just a couple days old. A child had gotten into the whelping box of the young Mom and unfortunately she attacked the child which resulted in 2 broken wrists.

She was surrendered with her babies by the backyard breeder.

The puppies stayed at the shelter until they were 6 weeks old, then they all joined foster homes at Mattie's Place and Mom joined a board & train program where she's being absolutely exceptional.

Mom is 29 KG/64 pounds. Dad is in the same weight range. At Hickory's 1st vet appointment for his vaccines and dewormer he weighed in at 4 KG/9 pounds [Dec 3, 2025]. I estimate her weight to fall in the 60 pound range but I have actually no true idea and she's too young to start charting weight.

Hickory is still just a baby and will need someone home most often as she navigates the coming months so she can learn all she needs to learn day to day and not be sitting home in a crate while her family is out of the home for full work days. An adopter ready to jump into professional training is important so we can be sure she grows into an amazing adult dog.

Puppies are so much work, so be sure you are absolutely ready to take that roll on; sleepless nights, poop on your floor, your favourite shoes chewed alongside needed routines and commitment to puppyhood.

Hickory has her 2nd vaccine appointment December 29th and will have a final vaccine booster appointment end of January 2026 (at the cost of Mattie's Place). Her spay will take place in May 2026, at a Mattie's Place veterinarian at the cost of Mattie's Place and this will be written into the adoption contract as a non-negotiable.

If you're looking for an amazing pup to welcome home, consider this beauty!

FROM THE FOSTER:

Meet Hickory – Your New Best Friend in Puppy Form!

Hickory is a bouncy, brown-and-white bundle of chunky happiness and a heart full of love. This little lady believes every day should include playtime, snack time, and at least one really good nap on a human.

She’s curious, cuddly, and just the right amount of silly. Hickory loves exploring new things, trotting around with her toys, and soaking up attention like it’s her full-time job. Her expressive face will make you laugh daily—and yes, she knows how cute she is.

Hickory is still a puppy, which means she’s learning, growing, and occasionally getting into adorable mischief. She’s smart, food-motivated, and eager to please, making training a fun bonding experience rather than a chore.

Why Hickory will steal your heart:

Playful, goofy personality
Snuggly bulldog charm
Gorgeous brown-and-white markings
Guaranteed daily smiles

If your life could use more laughs, more love, and a little snorty puppy joy, Hickory is ready to move in.

---------------------------------------

$875 ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, dentals if needed or any added surgical needed surgical care, food, nose to tail health exam, toys, leash|collar, winter coat (seasonal), poop bags, dishes and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage on adoption day for any illness or injury not pre-existing.

---------------------------------------

To note: the above description is relevant to this dog in its current & previous setting.
