Hex's Story

Meet Hex!

Sweet, cuddly, playful, and just a little mischievous, meet Hex!

Hex is an adorable 3-month-old male Terrier mix who is ready to find his forever family!

This sweet boy is currently being fostered in Millsboro, Delaware, where he’s been showing off his adorable personality and keeping everyone entertained!

Hex is a total cuddle bug who loves being close to his people. Whether you’re relaxing on the couch or moving around the house, he’s happiest when he’s near you. He’s also made the elderly woman in his foster home his absolute best friend, and their little friendship has been the sweetest thing to watch!

While Hex loves attention and cuddles, he’s also great at entertaining himself. He absolutely loves his toys! One of his favorite things to do is toss them into the air and bounce after them, sometimes getting so excited that he ends up doing little somersaults!

Hex also has a bit of a stealing habit! If you’re missing a shoe or sock, chances are you’ll find it in his bed. He loves collecting them and bringing them back to his little stash. Thankfully, he hasn’t been destructive with shoes, although he does occasionally give them a little nibble. Tissues, on the other hand, don’t stand a chance! He absolutely loves shredding them into a million pieces!

He’s still very much a puppy and has some puppy habits that his future family will need to continue working on. He’s currently in the puppy-biting stage, and those tiny teeth can be surprisingly sharp! Thankfully, redirecting him to an appropriate bone or chew toy usually works well.

Hex has been doing great with crate training and sleeps through the night in his crate! He’s still working on potty training and will need a family willing to continue helping him learn with patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement.

Hex also had a wonderful time celebrating Halloween with his foster family! He loved dressing up and getting to see all the trick-or-treaters who stopped by.

At approximately 9 pounds, Hex is expected to remain a smaller dog, likely under 30 pounds when fully grown. However, because his exact breed mix is unknown, we cannot guarantee his adult size. We believe he may be a Terrier/Chihuahua mix, but this is only our best guess.

Hex is such a funny, loving little guy with the perfect mix of cuddles, playfulness, and puppy mischief. He’s looking for a family that understands he’s still a baby and will need continued training, patience, and guidance as he grows.

If you’re looking for a little companion who will keep you laughing, steal your socks, and happily curl up beside you, Hex might be your perfect match!

Interested in adopting Hex?

The first step is completing an adoption application:

https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PDAR/Dog

Adoption Fee: $550

A $100 refund will be issued after proof of neuter, bringing his final adoption cost to $450.

Why Adoption Fees Matter

Most of our dogs are rescued from high-intake shelters or straight off the streets in South Texas, where packs of stray animals run loose. Your adoption fee directly covers the significant costs required to bring these dogs to safety.

We are a registered nonprofit rescue, and any funds remaining after expenses go directly toward helping animals with major medical needs who might otherwise be left behind and euthanized.

Rescuing a puppy involves much more than simply bringing them into our care. Between veterinary exams, vaccinations, deworming, preventatives, transportation, food, supplies, and everyday foster care, the expenses add up quickly.

Transportation alone typically costs our rescue approximately $200 to $230 per dog. Puppies also require multiple rounds of vaccinations and deworming as they grow, along with continued care until they find their forever homes.

Every adoption helps us continue saving dogs like Hex who deserve a second chance!

Your adoption fee covers:

Transport: Safe transport from Texas to our local foster homes, costing approximately $200 to $230 per dog.

Vetting & Preventive Care: Age-appropriate core vaccines, deworming, a heartworm test (if age appropriate), preventative care, and microchipping. Puppies who are not yet altered are adopted with a spay/neuter agreement, and a $100 refund is provided after proof of surgery.

VCA Medical Partnership: Every adoption includes a complimentary first exam at any participating VCA Animal Hospital within the first 14 days. VCA also provides limited health coverage of up to $250 for qualifying minor illnesses, such as kennel cough or ear infections, diagnosed during that initial two-week window.

Important Rescue Policies

No Foster-to-Adopt Program: We do not offer a foster-to-adopt option. The majority of our dogs are already settled into loving local foster homes, and we aim to minimize unnecessary moves for their emotional well-being. Additionally, our rescue insurance policy prohibits it.

Breed and Size Guarantees: We cannot guarantee the breed mix or adult size of any dog in our care. Listed breeds are our best guess based on physical traits. Because our dogs are rescues with unknown histories, we cannot guarantee that a dog is not mixed with pit bull.

Puppy Safety: Young puppies who have not completed their full vaccination series are especially vulnerable to diseases like parvo. Until Hex has completed his puppy vaccinations and is cleared by a veterinarian, his adopter must follow appropriate precautions, including avoiding dog parks, pet stores, public potty areas, and other high-risk environments. A private yard or an appropriate indoor potty setup will be necessary during this time.

Stay Connected!

For rescue updates, happy tails, and to see our latest adoptable dogs, follow us on Facebook:

https://share.google/S0mftiOuZYToqromm

Paws Deep Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
The first step to adoption, once you have identified a pet you would like to adopt, is to fill out an adoption application. You can speed up the adoption process by calling your vet ahead of time to give us permission to speak to them in regards to your current and past pets. You will be contacted to schedule an interview and a meet and greet after the adoption contract is approved.. We will need proof of age with a form of ID. Once we have gotten approval that you are allowed to have pets where you live, your adoption application is approved, the pet is altered, and adoption payment is received, only then will the animal be released. Some pets may be able to go home the day after adoption contract is approved others it could be a week. If the animal is deemed too young to be altered we will have the adopter sign a spay and neuter contract. The animal will need to be neutered when it is 6 months old and we will need proof provided to us by a licensed veterinarian. Once there is proof provided, the rescue will reimburse $100 of the adoption fee. If there is more than one qualifying approved applicant that is a match then the applicant who first inquired will get the opportunity to meet the pet and decide if they want to adopt before it goes to the next person in line. Note: Some animals will require home inspections or a fenced yard. Applying for a dog does not mean automatic approval. We reserve the right to deny applications. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_j7Qyk269a7uzMcOh1Ffx3PU9femw7Xd3t-Nj8TOfBE/edit Follow us on TikTok: @pawsdeepanimalrescue
