Hershey's Story

This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $200 if picked up in TN, $275 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions.

If you have ever wanted a dog who is equal parts stunning and sweet, meet Hershey, a two-year-old Australian Shepherd mix with a breathtaking chocolate merle coat that turns heads everywhere she goes! This 52-pound girl is gentle, athletic, and affectionate, and she has absolutely decided that, despite her size, she qualifies as a lap dog and would like to be treated accordingly. Hershey is well housetrained, quietly crate-trained, and walks nicely on a leash and rides calmly in the car. She knows sit, loves a good game of fetch, and will happily chase a ball or snuggle with a stuffed toy when she is not busy running zoomies in a fenced yard. She takes a few minutes to warm up to new people and situations, but once she does she is all in, gentle and loving with everyone including, as recently proven, a one year old baby who got some very sweet and careful attention from this good girl.

Hershey did have an injured eye removed, but since that eye had already lost vision she has adjusted beautifully and it has not slowed her down one bit. She is athletic, confident, and moves through the world with quiet grace. She does have a watchdog bark, so fair warning to anyone who rings the doorbell. She is not recommended for homes with goats or cattle, and a quieter rural environment away from loud noises would suit her sensitive ears well. Hershey is ready for a loving home with a fenced yard, daily walks, and a family generous with the snuggles. She has so much sweetness to offer and is simply waiting for the right people to shower it on. We do list and adopt our pets nationwide. Typical transport cost to the Northeast is $180. (All About Rescue and Fixin' Inc.) http://aarf-tn.com/ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee. A.A.R.F. is comprised of unpaid volunteers and survives only on public donations. Thank you for thinking adoption first!

Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption.
