Heron's Story
Sometimes it takes a while to get to know a dog’s personality, but Heron made sure we knew exactly who he was from the very first moment. He greeted everyone from our officers to a lobby full of people like they were his long lost buddies, with tail wags and a big, friendly hello for all.
But then we found out Heron is also a total smarty-pants! He proudly showed us everything he knows, including sit, down, stay, shake, and roll over. We can’t help but feel that doing all this reminds him of home and the people he misses.
Heron wasted no time showing us his softer side to! Playing with toys and sinking into a soft dog bed the second he had the chance. He is an incredibly engaged, bright boy who clearly misses the routine and warmth of a house.
Heron came in as a stray on Christmas Day. He is so ready to be your smartest best friend...he just needs the forever home to match his big, hopeful heart.

Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm.

All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption.

All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers).

We recommend and can arrange dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s). Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog.

If you have any questions, please email caccpetfinder@gmail.com

A305860
