Hermione Hound Mix Myrtle Beach, SC

Hermione is a beautiful, very sweet and loving coonhound that has been with us way too long. She is fun and friendly and loves toys. She also loves to lean on you and hug you. She's very treat and food motivated. You can tell by the photos that she wants to be around people all the time. She is an active dog and would do very well in a home with a fenced in yard with a family that has an active lifestyle (hounds like to run and play). Apartment life doesn’t seem to suit her. Her ideal home would have no kids or a home with kids over the age of 12. Another dog in the home is not out of the question. We would be looking for someone that’s prepared to be very patient with her and give her the time she needs in her new home. Someone please open your heart and home for this sweet girl.

“ Hermione - This sweet, loving, energetic, and playful hound mix has been at the shelter for 2.5 years as of Sept. 2023. Found as a stray and had been with us ever since. I saw her in a new light today, I normally just walked Hermione and put her away. But today, I got to experience her personality.

Hermione loves to play in water, especially mud puddles. Her zoomies are so powerful and full of uncontainable excitement. She will give few kisses, but she means every single one. She rested her paws on my shoulder and gave me a kiss while getting an exam. I’ve never seen her so happy. She loved sitting with me to take a quick 30 second break before the puddle zoomies started again.

Hermione knows sit and paw! Unsure of other tricks she may know, but those I know for certain. She is highly food/treat motivated and will take treats well from you. She does well meeting new people and she gets along with other dogs!! She loves to explore and once her nose hits a scent, you better hold tight on her leash. She is extremely strong and loves to show you her favorite spots to sniff. I can handle her easily and she’s half my weight?but man she is strong.

Hermione has been with us for so long that she’s picked up a bad habit, she will guard toys and food. She’s gotten better with toys, but likes to finish all of her food before you get more playtime! Again, she takes treats from you well, but she likes to dine alone with breakfast/lunch/dinner or whatever other big meals she may get.

Hermione is a perfect dog. Her feeding issue can be worked with by training! She’s just so used to eating alone at the shelter. Hermione is available through Grand Strand Humane Society for adoption!! 2.5 years at the shelter is way too long for such a sweet and loving dog. She has so much energy and would do good in an active home or even with just a nice fenced in yard!”
