Hermes's Story

Hermes is a terrier through and through. He will need an experienced dog owner and preferably one that has knowledge and love for scruffy, sassy, and ambitious terrier personalities.

Hermes would prefer a home that has a consistent and reliable lifestyle. I might imagine a professional (even better if they work from home) during the week and an adventurer by weekend. As Hermes would love to be your adventure partner.

He loves the water, and I imagine with a little training he might be a great paddle board companion. I know he would be happy to go camping and makes a good alarm should wildlife or humans step too close to camp.

Despite his rough and tumble personality Hermes can be quietly sensitive. So he would like someone with experience reading dog language and who comforts him when he needs a moment.

We have been working on building a greeting routine that he can rely on. I wouldn't say Hermes is shy with strangers he just has particulars about how he would prefer to interact. With that said he LOVES who he loves. Once he has met the person he is all wiggles and will make a big attempt to steel a kiss.

Hermes has taken well to muzzle training and we utilize this tool just in case. It makes it easier to introduce him to people and children. It's not always necessary but helps us control the public from reaching hands at his irresistible face without instruction. The public is harder to control and predict than the dog but I would be devastated should Hermes accidentally make a poor decision.

Hermes is house trained and does generally well when left alone from our experience. However this might look different in your home.

This playful dog can be a little ball obsessed and get a little over aroused. Should his new guardian be good at reading dog language they should have no problem noticing when Hermes needs a break. They might however have to be active about making him rest. Hermes is a recovering endorphin junky.

If you think Hermes will be a good match for your family please know that you are his 5th den. We want to be sure that this time he can sleep with ease knowing he is home for good. Some of this being passed around has contributed to his anxiety and I expect everyone will need time to get to know each other.

[Profile is still in progress. More being added...

***Kind Animal Services disclaimer: Our profiles are HONEST. We don't sugar coat profiles to get dogs adopted. Please keep in mind all dogs have quirks. We want you to know who the dog is up front so you can make the best adoption decision.
