Henry's Story

Meet Henry the Hound a sweet and lovable boy who is ready to find his forever family. Since settling into foster care, Henry has proven himself to be an easygoing companion who enjoys both adventure and relaxation.

Henry is a big fan of long-line sniff walks and loves taking his time exploring the world through his nose. He enjoys being outdoors, soaking up the sunshine, going for neighborhood walks saying hi to everyone on the walk , and meeting new people and dogs along the way. He is still learning the leash but a long line and some snacks help a lot and truly thrives when he gets to wander and sniff.

Inside the home, Henry is calm, cozy, and incredibly affectionate. He loves belly rubs, snuggles, and will happily share your pillow or claim your spot on the couch if you let him. He loves being close to his people he buries his head in your chest, but also has an independent side and enjoys exploring on his own.

Henry gets along well with other dogs and does well with kids who are not too chaotic. He is house trained, crate trained, and respectful in the home. While he does show interest in human food (as most hounds do!), he responds well to guidance and is learning what's allowed and what's not.

Currently he needs a little help getting into his crate and we have been guiding him with his Leash and by bringing a snack and saying "crate," which he's starting to understand Go in means snack. However he is silent in his kennel and loves a cushy bed or blanket!

He is a big fan of snacks (honestly, his favorite thing ever), which makes bonding and training fun and rewarding.
Henry is estimated to be about 5 years old and weighs around 31 pounds. He was found as a stray, and we suspect he may have been a former hunting dog who was dumped. He can be a bit shy in some situations, but he is incredibly resilient and continues to come out of his shell more each day.

In fact, he's one of the only dogs who doesn't mind the Amazon driver he'll happily try to hop into the truck in hopes of scoring a snack, which is as adorable as it sounds.

Henry has recently been neutered and will be starting heartworm treatment soon. The rescue will cover the cost of heartworm treatment, however he can go to his former home during this time! While treatment is being completed he will keep to keep things low key!

While we haven't been able to work on much formal training just yet, it hasn't dampened his spirit one bit. We continue to see more of his personality shine every day, and he truly is a total love bug!
