Heidi's Story
🩵 HEIDI 🩵
Age: 3.5 years
Gender: Female
Breed (Best Guess): Shar-Pei / Mastiff X
About Heidi:
Heidi is a beautiful girl with a big personality and an even bigger heart… once you earn it.
She can be a little cautious when meeting new people and prefers to approach on her own terms. Giving her space and allowing her to make the first move helps her feel safe. Once she decides you’re a friend, her true personality begins to shine - and that’s when the goofy, silly, affectionate side of Heidi comes out that everyone at the shelter knows and loves.
Heidi is the kind of dog who forms strong bonds with her people. She will do best with a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time and is willing to let her settle in at her own pace. The shelter environment can be overwhelming for sensitive dogs like Heidi, and we truly believe she will flourish once she’s in a calm, consistent home.
She enjoys playtime with some of the other shelter dogs and may benefit from a canine companion who matches her play style and can help build her confidence.
Heidi is also not a big fan of vet visits (but who is?) or invasive handling such as harnessing, but with time, patience, and positive experiences, staff and volunteers have already made great progress with her. She has even learned to use a scratch board on cue to help with her manicures!
Heidi is looking for a home that will continue to build her confidence, respect her boundaries, and give her the time she needs to blossom into the wonderful companion we know she can be.
Adoption Fee: $425
Includes microchip, spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccines, and deworming.
Please note: We adopt to force-free homes only, and the adoptive family must continue using force-free training methods after adoption.
If you think Heidi is a good fit for your family please visit our website at: paws-rescue.com and fill out an application!
