Hazel's Story
Hazel is a 6-year-old Shih Tzu with the sweetest little face — and an adorable tongue that’s almost always peeking out. This mellow little lady weighs just 10 pounds and is looking for a loving, nurturing home where she can finally relax and be spoiled the way she deserves.

Hazel came to us from Lucas County Canine Care & Control after being found as a stray on the streets of Toledo. While we don’t know everything she’s been through, it’s clear she’s ready for a soft place to land and someone patient to love her.

Hazel is very quiet and easygoing. She enjoys lounging around, being held, and simply spending time near her people. She does have poor vision, so she can become startled if approached suddenly. Because of this, it’s important to gently let her know you are coming near her by speaking softly to her first.

She gets along fine with other calm dogs as long as they respect her space and aren’t constantly in her face. Hazel mostly keeps to herself and doesn’t interact much with the other dogs in her foster home. She may do okay with gentle children, but due to her timid nature and limited vision, we think an adult home or one with calm, respectful older children would be best.

Hazel is potty trained, has a calm demeanor, and is truly just a little couch potato looking for comfort and kindness. If you’re searching for a quiet companion to share your couch and your heart, Hazel may be your girl.

She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, is on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention and is micro chipped.

Her adoption fee is $350

Please follow the link below for the adoption application.
