Hattie's Story

Hi, I’m Hattie! I’m a 2-year-old, 47-pound Anatolian Shepherd with a gorgeous reverse brindle coat and the sweetest personality to match. I came from a high-kill shelter in Louisiana and I’m now being fostered in Fort Wayne, where I’m learning just how wonderful life in a home can be. I’m still a little underweight and should eventually be around 60–65 pounds, but I’m well on my way to becoming the beautiful, healthy girl I’m meant to be!

If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I absolutely LOVE people! Forget treats, I’d rather have your love and attention any day. My tail starts wagging the second someone walks into the room and I’m always happy to make a new friend. I’m incredibly sweet, gentle, quiet and calm with a wonderful medium-to-low energy level. I walk beautifully on a leash, get along great with other dogs and I’m even wonderful with cats! I’m perfectly content just hanging out with my people and enjoying the simple things in life. I’m also still learning how to be a dog! I’ve recently started showing interest in toys, although I haven’t quite figured out what I’m supposed to do with them yet. It’s pretty adorable watching me discover all these new things that other dogs take for granted.

I’m fully vetted, including spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations and flea and tick prevention. After everything I’ve been through, I’m just beginning to discover what it means to feel safe, loved and part of a family. I have so much love to give and all I really want is someone to share it with. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate girl who will greet you with a wagging tail every single day, I might just be your perfect match!

If interested, please DO NOT submit an inquiry through Petfinder. Angie's Dog House's Adoption Policy
Our Adoption Process Our goal is to make the adoption process as smooth as possible while making sure each animal is matched with the right home 1. Submit an Application Complete our adoption application using the link at the bottom of each animal’s bio. Our team will review your application and if approved, someone from the rescue will reach out. PLEASE DO NOT FILL OUT AN INQUIRY ON PETFINDER 2. Home Video Once approved, we will ask you to submit a video walkthrough of your home and yard in lieu of an in-person home visit 3. Animals Already in Foster If the animal is currently in a foster home, the foster parent will contact you to answer questions, tell you more about the animal and arrange a meet and greet. Please bring a leash to the meet and greet. If everything goes well and you feel it is the right match, you may complete the adoption and take your new family member home that day 4. Direct Adoptions From Transport Some of our animals travel to Michigan specifically for direct adoption rather than going into a foster home. Because these animals are coming on transport specifically to meet their approved adopter, a direct adoption must be a firm commitment. Please ask any questions and make sure you are comfortable moving forward before committing to a transport animal 5. Finalizing the Adoption To complete the adoption, you will sign our adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Once complete, your new family member is officially yours and can head home with you
