Hank's Story
Hank #1050

Age: 4-5 years old

Color & Breed: Red/White Basset

Gender: Neutered Male

Weight: 43 pounds

Hank is back with MNBR and looking for a home that suits his needs. He originally came to us in June 2026 as a private relinquishment from Texas.

Let’s start with the positives. Hank is house trained, crate trained (though he is a good boy and can be left loose without getting into anything), he walks well on a leash, is generally quiet, and he’s gorgeous. He gets small bursts of energy, but will often burn it off himself by chasing his own tail or doing hot laps around the house with a toy in his mouth. If you give him a couple days to settle in, he’ll be sleeping in your bed and curling up in your lap on the couch.

Over the four months Hank was adopted, he got into 4-5 altercations with the older male resident dog and had two nips to humans. We want to set Hank up to succeed and keep everyone safe, so we have some parameters for Hank’s new home.

In his current foster home there are two senior dogs and two adults. He ignores the dogs most of the time, but takes their corrections well when he is bothering them. He hasn’t show any signs of aggression towards the humans, but we believe it is best to be cautious.

Hank’s perfect home would be dog savvy, child-free, low-key, and dog-free. He is still able to socialize with other dogs, but he prefers respectful, middle-senior aged dogs.

Could you be the right fit for this hunky hound? We accept applications from within the following areas: all of Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin and other applicants within a 8 hour radius of our headquarters in St. Paul, MN.

Minnesota Basset Rescue (MNBR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dog rescue based in Minnesota. MNBR rehomes dogs from owners who can no longer provide their care and rescues dogs from local pounds and shelters. As an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue we welcome anyone who loves dogs and wishes to help hounds live a healthy and happy life. Our organization provides safe, loving foster home, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities while working hard to find them a permanent, loving home!
