Hank's Story
Meet Hank — A Survivor Who Has Waited Far Too Long

Hank is a 5-year-old Hound mix who has survived more than most dogs ever should. He originally arrived at the shelter after being found at large with a badly infected and damaged ear and a large mass on his stomach. He received the veterinary care he needed, healed, and has spent nearly **three years** waiting for the one thing he still doesn't have: a home.

Despite everything, Hank is still sweet, gentle, and incredibly deserving of a second chance.

He's a mellow guy who enjoys the simple things in life. He recently had a bath and happily enjoyed the spa treatment! He gets along well with other dogs and has even been known to join in on a game of *catch me if you can* with his canine friends. He's also shown his softer side during thunderstorms, looking for comfort and trying to cuddle up with a friend when the thunder gets a little too loud.

After spending so long in a shelter, Hank may need a little help learning the ropes of life inside a home. But after **952 days in an outdoor kennel**, we think he's more than earned the chance to learn.

He doesn't need perfection. He just needs someone willing to give him patience, kindness, and a soft place to land.

**Hank is:**
5-year-old Hound mix
Approximately 56 pounds
Neutered
Heartworm negative
Vaccinated
Dog friendly
Sweet and mellow

Seriously... **952 days is long enough.**

Hank has waited through scorching summers, storms, and nearly three years of watching other dogs leave while he remains behind. Somewhere out there has to be someone who can give this survivor the home he's been patiently waiting for.

**Could Hank finally be your dog? **

MORE INFO:
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, or scheduled to be if they arrived in our care too young. Each dog has been seen by our veterinarian and treated for likely the following (all various): Age appropriate vaccines, overall health exam and other alignments as they come up. All dogs are dewormed, given core vaccines (Bordetella, DHPP (3 of them if a puppy) and Rabies as well as all are microchipped and on a monthly preventative for flea/tick/heartworm prevention.

All of our animals are placed into foster homes so they thrive and the transition is easier.

If interested in learning more or meeting this pup, please fill out our adoption application.
The application can be found here:
https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/JHRA/Dog
