Meet Hank! He is a very sweet & loving 1-year old male Great Dane! He really enjoys being petted, sitting in his humans’ laps and lounging on the couch as well as car rides. He likes to be with his people and not leave their sides. He will follow his foster mom everywhere she goes, sit at her feet and will lean on her while she pets him or to indicate he wants her to pet him. Since he loves pets and attention, he has done well with grooming.

He loves to play with the foster family’s Great Dane puppy and has shown no aggression toward him. He does tend to pull a lot when on a leash, so he will need to continue his training. When attempting to introduce a crate, he ran and dodged to avoid, so we allow him to be in the house without being crated. He has been neutered and is house broken. He has not had any accidents in the house.

He really enjoys playing with his toys, playing tug-a-war and chewing on Kong toys. He has not bothered the trash (the trash can has a lid on it) or torn up anything in the house. He has dug dirt from one plant. Because of his size, he does like to place his head on the kitchen counter and sniff for food. He does respond well to leave it unless he is playing or excited. He responds to the command “come” sometimes. Sometimes he will follow the command “sit” by laying down. It would be best to continue his training as he is a smart dog and wants to please his family.

He did show food aggression twice when we first got him, so he was fed at a distance from our puppy; however, since getting all he wants to eat, he hasn’t shown further food aggression (he only gets dog food). He drinks a lot of water and will drink from the same bowl as our puppy. He tries to play with our small dog; however, this isn’t allowed only because of his size. He has not been aggressive toward the smaller dog either.

He loves to get attention! Whenever he gets the chance, he will try every way he can to sit in our laps. He doesn’t seem to see a stranger; he will allow anyone to pet him. He does tend to bark at night especially if he hears a noise including the fridge running, but if allowed to sleep on the couch, the barking diminishes. He will run from us if he gets off leash or gets the chance to get out of the house by accident. He will typically come back to us if we whistle for him or clap and say his name in a playful manner.

Hank is such a precious and funny dog. When he is outside, he runs with his tongue hanging out of the corner of his mouth, jaw skin flapping, and his ears flopping in the wind as he almost gallops. He will make his forever family a wonderful pet and member of the family! He is update-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, heartworm negative and fecal negative. His adoption fee is $400.
