Gypsy's Story

Estimated DOB: 03/12/2026
Breed: Boxer mix
Weight: 28
Adoption fee: $350

Gypsy is a roughly 7-month-old Boxer mix who has spent nearly her entire life waiting for a family to find her. She came into a rural Kentucky shelter on April 30, 2026, at just 7 weeks old. While other puppies her age were learning what it meant to be part of a family, Gypsy has been growing up behind a kennel door.

Gypsy is a sweet, playful girl with an unlimited supply of kisses to give! She is dog-friendly and loves playing with her canine friends. She appears to be uninterested in cats, too. She is treat-motivated, eager to learn, and currently working on becoming a pro at walking on a leash.

At roughly 7 months old, Gypsy is at such a wonderful age. She is past the tiny-puppy stage but still young enough to learn the routines, expectations, and rhythms of a household. With the right family, she has the potential to grow into an incredible lifelong companion.

Unfortunately, Gypsy’s life right now is very different from the life she deserves.

Gypsy currently resides in a rural shelter in Kentucky, where she is one of nearly 300 dogs waiting for their chance at a better life. With just one shelter worker for roughly every 50 dogs, the shelter is severely overcrowded. Gypsy spends 24 hours a day in her kennel, with very limited opportunities to get out, interact, and simply be a dog.

Imagine spending practically your entire childhood in a kennel. Gypsy has never really gotten the chance to experience the everyday things that make up a dog's life — a home, a family, a cozy bed, toys scattered around the living room, or someone to call her own.

And yet, despite growing up in such a difficult environment, Gypsy remains playful, affectionate, and eager to interact with the world around her.

Help Gypsy Get Out of the Shelter

Gypsy is looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home that can give her the freedom, love, attention, and guidance she has been missing.

Cleo’s Legacy is willing to take Gypsy into their rescue program if an approved foster or foster-to-adopt home steps forward.** That means her foster family would have the support of the rescue, including medical care, foster supplies, transportation, and more.

Gypsy is at the perfect age to learn what it means to be part of a household. She has already spent almost her entire life waiting in a kennel — she shouldn't have to spend another day growing up there.

If you think Gypsy could be the perfect addition to your family, please inquire about fostering or foster-to-adopt.

Gypsy has spent enough of her life waiting. Now it's time for her to start living it.

If you’re interested in fostering or fostering to adopt Gypsy, fill out the application below!

https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/foster/NKY/Dog

Any questions about Gypsy or the foster/foster to adopt program through Cleo’s Legacy, please feel free to reach out at the following email!

emma@cleoslegacy.org
