Gus's Story
8/30/26

Remember the 60 + Labs and Labradoodles found in the home in Cincinnati last week that we told you about? We were able to help 2 that could be transported and arrived at our rescue on Saturday night.

First, everyone meet Gus, a 9 month mostly Labrador Retriever about 40# and very sweet. Even with all that he has been through, he still seeks out human attention and is doing well with the four other dogs in his foster home. This gentle boy doesn't seem to have a mean bone in his body, and is pretty calm despite his age. If you are looking for a young and sweet 4 legged companion who needs a little extra tlc, Gus may just be the boy for you!

Coming from a hoarding case, we recommend that Gus has soft and slow introductions to people at least until he has had some time to decompress so a house with low activity (in the short term at least) is recommended.

Due to her size, activity level and age, foster to adopt requirements are:

Living within 80 miles of Adams, NY.
-Having previous/current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spay/neutered.
-Being able to bring him back to our vets office in Adams for additional care, prior to adoption. After adoption, we recommend taking him to your current vet to be established.
-Gus came from a home with a lot of other dogs so he should do well with dogs in the home, but he has not been cat tested.
-He is a social pup but he has been put through a lot already in his short life, so a home with children over at this time is recommended.
-Willing to have current family members come to a meet and greet to meet the pet and be sure an acceptable match.
-Having time available to care for, socialize and start the training of a new pet.
-An adoption0 donation of $550 is being asked, if you choose to adopt, but fostering is free. He had his initial vet check, is current on vaccines, dewormings and prescription flea and tick medications and he has been neutered.

The first step in our adoption process is the veterinary reference check so please be sure to call your veterinarian's office to give consent to release records to us, so we can get this step out of the way.

Please help us to continue helping those that knock on our doors!

To foster to adopt: https://form.jotform.com/Meowchatz/pet-adoption-application-form

-------------
Foster to adopt pets are limited to an 80 mile radius of Adams, NY and pets must be taken to our vets office for care until adoption.

All pets must be viewed in person by all family members prior to adoption; animals will not be shipped to their new homes. Dogs in the home must come to the meet and greet as well to be sure they will get along with the new pet. Veterinary reference check and adoption donation also required. Check out our homepage for a full list of our adoption requirements.

http://allcreaturesbigandsmall.petfinder.com Prevent pet overpopulation, spay and neuter your pets!
