GRINS's Story

This adorable Wire-haired Dachshund is 5 years old and has the cutest whiskers and eyebrows ever going. He is a calm and easy going 24 pounds boy that could stand to go on a reasonable diet and lots of daily walks during the week to slim down to a great weight for his long Dachshund body. This boy is named Grins and he just lost his home because his senior mom entered a nursing home on Wednesday 5/27. All that he needs in life right now is a new family/owner who will love getting up every morning to see his sweet happy face and to take him several times a day on a good walking/exercise program to trim down his extra pounds and get him to a good 20 pound body weight. Less pounds means more good life for a Dachshund and Grins is at his prime time to change his food intake to higher quality. He really needs to get out and see the world from the end of a leash! His former mom has been bedridden for over 3 years and he has not been taken on walks in all the time. Now Critter Cavalry Rescue is taking him in to their foster program. Grins might do best as the only dog in his new home. He has a tendency to be bossy with other dogs sometimes. It could be managed if he has a strong owner who knows how to be the boss in the house and not let Grins run the show. He is in a foster now that has cats and he does great with them!.He is housebroken and knows what a pee pad is just in case you need that extra time away. He is crate trained and does so well on a leash too! Snickers is resilient, happy to go wherever you take him and is adjusting to all the new sights, sounds and people in his life. We would love a Dachshund lover who is experienced with the breed to give Grins a soft bed and a big heart filled with love as his next forever place.
