Greta's Story

FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State. We are a local foster home based rescue.

Greta is a tender hearted girl who is longing to be a cherished family member. She loves, loves, loves everyone including children. Her perfect home will shower her with love and compassion and always remind her how important she is. Greta will be happiest in a home where her people will include her in their adventures. Whether it's a day out on the sound or an afternoon just relaxing at home, Greta is the best companion you will find. Greta will need a family that will share their bed with her because, as they will find out, she is a champion cuddler and the best bed warmer ever!

Greta came from a living situation where other dogs placed her in danger. We are finding that she is doing well with other respectful, calm dogs in her foster home and we think that, although she is doing well, she would be happiest in a home where she can be someone's one and only. We don't know if Greta has any experience with cats but her gentle nature tells us that she would be fine, however, any cats in the home should have a safe place to observe Greta as she navigates her new surroundings. Greta is learning proper potty habits in her foster home and will benefit from a family that will continue with a predictable routine while she adapts to her new home.

Greta recently received a Senior Wellness Exam with bloodwork. When she arrived to rescue she was diagnosed with severe chronic dermatitis. Her condition was treated with prescription food, medicated baths and medications. The results of this treatment were favorable and her vet team believes that she had food allergies. Greta's adopter should be prepared to feed her prescription food and her skin should be monitored for any changes. Greta was recently spayed and received a dental with extractions. She is microchipped, up to date on her vaccines and spayed. Greta is 8 years old and weighs 12 pounds.

Please note, we have approximately a 200 mile adoption radius from Stanwood WA for our Senior Dogs. Save-A-Mutt may limit this distance based on the long term needs of this pet. We dont adopt out of state except to the Vancouver BC area. We dont ship dogs. Once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up their dog. For questions about this dog please call Elizabeth Woche, Senior and Special Needs Dog Coordinator, at 425-974-9479

Save-A-Mutt's Adoption Policy
Save-A-Mutt is a Foster Based rescue. All our dogs are in foster homes, there is no facility to visit. All adopters are required to fill out an application. As we review the application, we may have questions - and prefer email to ask/answer them. So please check your email regularly. We may remove adoptable animals off of Petfinder while we work on applications - but will contact you to let you know. We like to have one good app per pet as not to disappoint people. It can take a couple days to finish an application, depending on your references, etc. Please let your references know that will be sending emails - they sometime go to junk mail. We enjoy open communication, but we are a volunteer organization, so please be patient. Once we receive all the information we need, we will schedule a phone interview, home check, etc. Thank you and we will be in touch! Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make acceptions only with the approval of the foster home.
