Greta's Story
Meet beautiful Greta -- a devoted mama whose nurturing heart is just as big as her gentle spirit.

Greta's journey hasn't been easy. She was found wandering the streets of Memphis in December 2025, heavily pregnant and trying her best to survive on her own. When she arrived at the shelter, it was also discovered that she had an issue with her left eye. A veterinary exam revealed an old corneal injury that left her with limited vision on that side. Thankfully, it doesn't slow her down one bit -- she has adjusted wonderfully and navigates life with confidence and grace.

Just one week after being rescued, Greta gave birth to seven puppies while still in the shelter. She and her three babies were welcomed into a loving southern foster home, and her babies all found loving homes when they were ready to start their own adventures

She has continued to shine in her foster home as her mom learned who she was as Greta the dog rather than Greta the Mom. Her puppies are thriving -- and now it is time for this young lady (she is still a puppy herself) to go on her own adventure.

It's Greta's turn to be cared for and cherished.

Greta's favorite place is right beside her people. She absolutely adores being cuddled and will happily follow her foster mom from room to room just to stay close. She loves gentle pets, cozy companionship, toys, and chewing on nylabones. She also enjoys stretching her legs outdoors and taking in the world around her.

Greta gets along well with her canine foster siblings and is both house trained and crate trained, making her an easy addition to a loving home. She thrives on affection and would do best with a family who can give her the attention and companionship she craves.

Greta LOVES being outside. She is up for walks and hikes but it equally contented just sunbathing in the back yard. While not required, a fenced in yard would absolutely be her happy place.

After being independent, Greta doesn't LOVE the leash. She will walk with you, but she can be reactive to other dogs while leashed. This is NOT the case when she does not have the leash on!

Name: Greta
Breed: Black Labrador Retriever/Crossbreed (DNA testing has not been done and therefore no guarantees are made with regard to this dogs breed mix).
Sex: Female
Age: 1.5 years (estimated)
Weight: 45.0
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Vaccinations: Up to date
Heartworm: Negative on recent testing
Microchipped: Yes

BASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:
Good with Children: Unknown
Good with Dogs: Yes
Good with Cats: Unknown

Adoption Fee: $550.00 (includes transport fee when applicable)
$100-150 additional mandatory quarantine fee for Massachusetts residents.

Location of dog currently: Tennessee

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England, if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse, whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher.
