Gregor's Story
Meet Gregor
Gregor is a 4-year-old, 17-pound black and white dachshund mix with a sweet soul, a funny little bounce, and so much love to give.
He came from a heartbreaking hoarding case involving 36 dogs living in horrible conditions and was one of the last two dogs pulled, which meant he spent even more time in uncertainty, including extra time in the shelter after being removed.
Gregor has a bit of a hound look, but make no mistake — he acts just like a dachshund in all the best ways: playful, easygoing, affectionate, and happiest curled up in a lap.
He came into rescue needing both physical and emotional healing, but he has already shown just how resilient and loving he is.
He is wonderful with all dogs, from a 66-pound blue pit bull to tiny 16-week-old puppies.
Gregor loves to play ball and enjoys playtime just as much as he enjoys quiet cuddle time.
After he has had some fun, he is happiest lounging on the couch or, even better, curled up in your lap.
Gregor has not shown one ounce of aggression — only gratitude for being safe, fed, and cared for.
He does well eating in a group and has done well on Purina dog food.
He is good with kids and teens.
Gregor is good with both men and women.
He is clean in his crate and does well both at night and during the day when needed.
After working with him, Gregor now does well on a leash.
He also does well with a short fence.
Gregor has met cats and was more scared than anything. He tried to sniff them, and when they hissed, he immediately wanted to be picked up and placed in a lap.
What makes Gregor so special is how badly he wants to love and be loved. Even after everything he has survived, he is still soft, trusting, and full of hope.
Gregor is neutered, up to date on all vaccines, and on prevention.
Gregor is safe now, healing now, and ready for someone to choose him forever.
If you are looking for a sweet, playful little dog with a resilient heart and so much love to give, Gregor may be your perfect match. Please fill out an adoption application to have him join your family. His $350 adoption fee covers medical care up to adoption to include vaccines, neuter, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY.
