Grandpa Leo's Story

Allow us to introduce Grandpa Leo, a charming 12-year-old Shih Tzu with a heart as big as his personality. Life has given him a few bumps along the way — including the loss of one eye — but don't let that fool you. This little gentleman still struts around with quiet confidence and plenty of love to give.

Leo is a cautious little guy who takes his time getting to know new people and surroundings. Once he trusts you, though, you'll see the sweetest side of him — the one that melts into his favorite bed for a long nap or enjoys gentle pets along his back. He's happiest when life moves at a calm, steady pace with plenty of comfy blankets and cozy corners.

True to his “grandpa” nickname, Leo likes attention on his terms and won't hesitate to toddle over when he's ready for some affection. He's not a fan of having his face fussed with, but he enjoys soothing rubs and scratches along his body, especially after a quiet stroll or during a peaceful afternoon.

Because Leo treasures tranquility, he'd do best in a home without children — somewhere serene where he can snooze, explore at his own pace, and soak up love in a stress-free environment.

This wise little Shih Tzu has earned a life of comfort, care, and dignity. If you're looking for a loyal, mellow companion who will fill your days with soft snuggles, curious glances, and the occasional “grandpa grumble,” Grandpa Leo may just be the perfect match.

Adopt Grandpa Leo — give this sweet senior the retirement home he deserves, full of naps, gentle love, and peaceful days.

PLEASE NOTE: All your current pets must be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention to adopt from Polka Dogz. We only adopt in Florida. All adoption fees go to help all the dogs in the rescue, some of which require extensive medical care. Thank you for caring for the greater good. Polka Dogz Pet Rescue's Adoption Policy
A homeless pet is more than one in a million—she's one in 2.7 million. That's the number of adoptable dogs and cats who are still euthanized each year in the United States, simply because too many pets come into shelters and too few people adopt. The number of euthanized animals could be reduced dramatically if more people adopted pets instead of buying them. When you adopt, you save your animal and open up shelter space for another animal who might need it. Polka Dogz saves these dogs from kill shelters especially the medically needy. We fix them up good as new and make them highly adoptable pets. Please support homeless pets and "adopt, don't shop, lives depend on it". We will soon have a property to call our own where people can volunteer, visit, and have a meet and greet with their potential new pet. Stay tuned.
