Goyo's Story

📌 Important Information
• All dogs are currently in foster care in Mexico 🇲🇽. They're listed in Oregon for adoption purposes as that's where our rescue is based.
• Dogs fly to Portland (PDX) once adoption is approved, arriving within 2–4 weeks. ✈️ This reduces stress for them and ensures safe travel.

💛 About The Meximutt Project (A Born Again Pit Bull Rescue initiative)
Over 18 million dogs live on Mexico’s streets. Yes, as long as they're taught to respect the dog’s belongings and boundaries.
• HOUSEBROKEN? Not 100% yet. As rescues that lived on the street or tile/outdoor surfaces, they'll need some time to adjust. Most of our dogs adapt within 1-2 weeks of consistent training.

Goyo and his street companion Ramon were a team — two dogs making do together in a neighborhood that had run out of patience for them. When threats to poison them both became real, a foster stepped in before it was too late. Goyo arrived cautious and unsure, having learned the hard way that humans weren't always on his side.

It didn't take long for that to change though. "Now he runs to me when he sees me," says his foster Susana, and you can hear the smile in it. Goyo found his footing faster than anyone expected — curious, energetic, genuinely delighted by the world once he understood the world wasn't going to hurt him.

His favorite things say a lot about him: he loves exploring every corner of the foster home, scrambling up mounds of dirt like they're mountains worth conquering, burning off energy with the kind of full-body enthusiasm that makes you laugh just watching.

Don't let his Eeyore-like pensive look fool you: he is a happy-go-lucky, adventurous pup through and through.

And then he comes back in and is perfectly, surprisingly calm. Like Ramon, he keeps his kennel spotless and waits to go outside — a level of self-possession that's frankly impressive for a dog who was surviving on the streets not long ago.

Goyo needs room to move, things to sniff, and a family willing to match his spirit. He'll give back everything you invest in him and then some.

Is there an adventure in your future with Goyo's name on it?

*************************

📝 Ready to apply?
