Meet Goofy

Goofy is a silly 80lb, 2-year-old lapdog, who has become a huge part of my life. His name perfectly encapsulates his loving, silly, sweet nature and very goofy personality. Goofy is a fiercely loyal companion, always wanting to be near his humans. His favorite games include playing tug of war (he's a work in progress with fetch) and running laps around the house. He runs to the kitchen as soon as he hears the sound of the fridge opening because ice cubes are both a favorite treat and toy to play with. Despite his size, Goofy is not aggressive towards other dogs (though he does bark a lot at first); in fact, his best friend is a mini dachshund with whom he enjoys endless games of chase and tug of war.
Living up to his name, he has a quirk of sleeping with all four legs sticking straight up or with his face squished against his own butt. Goofy's affectionate nature shines through as he seeks attention and snuggles, often trying to be as close as possible to whoever he is currently vying for attention from, usually sitting directly on your foot.
I think that Goofy also demonstrates excellent guard dog instincts for anyone who would be interested in honing those skills. While not aggressive, he is vigilant and always barks to alert me if someone or something is approaching. When I am home alone it's incredibly comforting to have a dog with a keen sense of awareness who could scare off intruders simply by his size and barks, without compromising a gentle disposition.
While Goofy has been an incredible part of my family, I've come to the difficult decision to find him a new home. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide him with the additional companionship and attention he craves. He deserves a family with more playmates, and I am unable to introduce another dog into our current living situation. Though I try not to leave him alone for extended periods, I can see that he is lonely, and I believe he would thrive in an environment with more canine friends or even older kids to play with.
I am committed to ensuring Goofy finds the right home and situation to live his life to the fullest. I am more than willing to work closely with potential adopters to provide insights into Goofy's preferences, routines, and training. My goal is to make this transition as smooth as possible for him and his new family as he does have some separation anxiety. He is crate-trained and while we don't use the crate as often anymore, he never has an issue going back to it.
Goofy helped me through a challenging period in my life, and I am forever grateful. However, I want to ensure that he finds a home better suited to his needs. He is a sweet and goofy boy who, despite his size, is gentle and loving. I worry that misconceptions about large dogs might hinder his chances, but I am confident that the right family will appreciate him for the wonderful companion he is.
I am committed to keeping Goofy with me until a suitable home is found. I am more than willing to provide his new family with all of his belongings, including favorite toys, treats, his bed, and any remaining food. This animal is available at South Coast Humane Society, Brookings, Oregon. www.mysouthcoasthumane.org
