Goldfinch (Little Bird litter)'s Story

FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks!

---

Meet Goldfinch, aka Finch. DNA said he is a silly mix of breeds, 17 in all. Bully, GSD, Lab and more! Honestly - he looks more like a border collie, and he's sooooooo soft. He looks nothing like his sister Junco who is all white. At about 17 weeks, he's just over 20 pounds, so we think he will likely be in the 50# range when fully grown. Currently in a foster home, he is learning all things puppy - crate training, housebreaking, and more! He does great in his crate, sleeps 7+ hours at night.

As with many of our rescue litters - these pups had a RUFF start. A sister tested positive for Parvo, but the amazing Parvovirus Monoclonal Antibody treatment stopped the disease in its' tracks and she never got sick. Yay!

Finch is kind of an odd duck. We are not sure what to make of him... he loves the other dogs, doesn't care about the foster's cat. But everything he does is in 'sloth mode.' Hahahahahah. He's a little shy at first but warms up to gentle cuddles. Even his tail wags are in slo-mo. His foster mom said it perfectly - he's the Eeyore of puppies! We think Finch would be best in a home with another dog.

This puppy is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated with puppy shots, he just needs her rabies vaccine.

Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot! They will cry in their crate, might need a potty break in the middle of the night. They will pee and poop in your house - your fault ;) - and will chew on your shoes, your childrens toys and maybe even the furniture. But... once transitioned into your home, will be life long companions!

The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training.

Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption.

Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood.
Adoption fee is $525. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible.

Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sundays to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home.

Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We dont ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your dog.
