Glenda's Story

Glenda was rescued from Miami Dade Animal Services. We saw a video of her shaking and hiding in her cage there and knew she needed us. What we didn't know was that her right eye was very large/ bulging and she was visually impaired. Regardless, she is so deserving of LOVE!

We tried to avoid it but we came to the crossroads where a permanent decision had to be made regarding her right eye. Glenda's eye pressure had not gotten any better with the medications every few hours prescribed by the Opthamologist. She saw the Opthamologist again a week after her initial emergency exam there and the only option was to remove the eye.

Sweet stoic Glenda had surgery to have the eye enucleated (removed). Our priority is always COMFORT AND RELIEF over looking cosmetically "normal" or cosmetically pleasing to human eyes.

That weighed heavily on her foster mama's heart but she just wanted Glenda to feel better. Since rescue from the shelter, she slept most of the time. After the surgery she has more energy and likes to go for brief LEASHED walkies.

The Opthamologist refers to her severe glaucoma as a never-ending pushing and probing migraine. She needed relief quickly and we can tell she is much happier even though she cannot see. She had no vision in the right eye and likely not much if any in the left eye.

Will anyone adopt a blind dog? Who knows, but we are 1000% glad we rescued this precious soul!
www.ratbonertr.org
