Ginny 's Story

Ginny is an almost 2 year old Podengo who spent her life up until January 2026 outside in Southeastern MA. She was used for rabbit hunting but her owner realized that he was a little overwhelmed with the amount of dogs so he surrendered a few of them to us. Ginny is ready for an adoptive home or a "foster to adopt home." She will need someone to still crate her overnight and in between potty breaks during the day. She wears a diaper in the house in between potty breaks when she is loose to ensure she doesn't have any accidents in the home. So far she has done really well but being in a house is all new to her so her new home must be up for treating her almost as though she is a puppy. She walks nicely on a leash but is not the type of dog that can ever be off leash. This breed is very "flighty" so they cannot be off leash or in a position where they could escape the home. If you have a door cracked open or a spot in a fenced yard they could squeeze through, they will find it! They will not return back to you if they are loose, they're off! So, a home that understands that and is OK with that, is a must. She is awesome with cats, dogs and kids. She will make an awesome family member with just a little more training :) If you're interested, you can fill out an application on our website under Adopt at unfurget.org

Furget Me Not's Adoption Policy
All pets are evaluated medically and behaviorally before being placed in foster homes and placed up for adoption. Dogs and cats go to potential adopter's homes on a foster or "trial" basis to begin with. We supply everything that they need to get started so there is no upfront cost. We provide the guidance and support needed to have a successful experience for both you and the pet. Depending on the pet, you may find out whether it's a good fit or not within a few days or it may take weeks. Regardless, our goal is to make sure it's a good match and that both you and the pet are happy. We pride ourselves on a streamlined foster to adopt process and are committed to being matchmakers.
