Ginger - RI's Story

Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog Mix
Age: 3.5 years old +/-
Weight: 60 lbs.
Medical: Up-To Up-To-Date on Vaccinations, Microchipped, Spayed
Cat Friendly: No
Dog Friendly: Yes
Kid Friendly: Young Adult/Teenage kids Yes, small children No
House Trained: Yes
Crate Trained: Yes
Location: Rhode Island

Ginger is a sweet, energetic young Catahoula Leopard mix who is looking for her forever home. At just about 60lbs she is the perfect size and loves to crawl in your lap for rubs and kisses. Ginger is house trained and has never had an accident inside the home. She does well in a crate if you need to run a quick errand and when left alone outside her crate Ginger has been nondestructive. In her foster home Ginger has done amazing with her 5 doggy siblings, both females and males ranging from 65lbs to 105lbs. She can play rough and rowdy but takes and gives corrections if necessary. Ginger loves toys of all kinds and can stay busy by herself, but she does love a good game of fetch or tug with humans and other dogs. She knows basic commands and is well mannered on leash but naturally has a prey drive towards small animals.

Ginger spends time perched on the back of the living room chair, watching everything very intently. Ginger loves riding in the car and gets very excited for trips. Ginger loves treats and walks. She is a very quick learner and loves to show you exactly what she wants (usually the treats on the counter). While she may enjoy digging holes and rolling in the dirt, she is calm and patient during bath time.

Ginger would do best in a home without small children and even though she is dog friendly, she would strive in a home where she can get all of the attention and go on adventures. Ginger will need daily mental stimulation and physical exercise. During her time in foster Ginger has created a strong bond with both of us but is weary of men. It is difficult to truly define because she has done wonderful with our male vet and adult son Jack. Ginger is very eager to please and once she connects with you her love and loyalty show in every action. She will need a patient, calm, and confident companion to help guide her through this world!

If you are interested in adopting Ginger, please click at the link below
CRNE Adoption Application:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1rjvYvkyGRug-gnCPcHFB49ksrZlQNlYQddGnkoVvNNA/viewform?fbclid=IwAR1Z3LWcB1HW2pncs-N64t1xdlD6Fm9P137xk6MErsLOE4ObXQ9erCAk-nM&edit_requested=true

Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.

If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.

Ginger’s adoption donation is $450 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test, is on preventative, microchip and neuter depending on age at time of adoption. If the dog is too young for a spay/neuter then they will be adopted with a spay/neuter contract and deposit. We do not have a physical shelter; all our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
