Gigi's Story

Meet Gigi!

Gigi is a spunky and playful little soul looking for the patient, understanding family she has always deserved. This adorable 10lb Shih Tzu and Miniature Poodle mix was born on 05/09/2023 and came from a breeder who was finally shut down after years of breeding. Before rescue, Gigi lived in a home with numerous other small dogs and had very little exposure to the outside world or life as a cherished family companion.

Because of her past, Gigi can be a little shy and reserved when first adjusting to new people and environments. However, her social skills have come a long way in foster care, and once she feels comfortable, her sweet and happy personality really begins to shine. She has a quiet, gentle demeanor and enjoys simply being near her people in a calm and peaceful environment.

Gigi is seeking a quieter home with adults only or older, dog-savvy children who can respect her sensitive nature and allow her time to settle in at her own pace. She has become much more confident with consistency, patience, and routine, as her foster has been very diligent and compassionate about her transitional adjustment.

Having never learned how to walk comfortably on a leash, Gigi will REQUIRE a secure physical fenced yard for her safety. She is not a candidate for tethering or invisible fencing, and extra caution should always be taken when outside while she continues building confidence and learning new experiences.

Gigi does well with other small dogs, and is a little hesitant about larger dogs, but seems to enjoy canine companionship. She also does not mind cats. She has demonstrated a good understanding of house manners and is learning more every day about what it means to simply be a loved family dog.

As a Shih Tzu and Miniature Poodle mix, Gigi will require regular grooming to keep her coat healthy and comfortable.

Most of all, Gigi is searching for a family willing to give her the patience, kindness, and unconditional love she has missed out on for far too long. In return, you'll gain a quiet, loyal companion who simply wants a safe place to call home furever.

Gigi is:
Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and Rabies
Dewormed
Heartworm Tested: Negative
Receiving Heartworm and Flea Prevention
Microchipped
Spayed

ADOPTION FEE: $375

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. We make every effort to evaluate each animal's temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different.

While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.

FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS.
