Gideon's Story
Gideon is an approximately 8-year-old, 60 pound boxer whose face tells you life has not been especially generous to him. We rescued him off the streets, where he had been living for a long time. He came to us an emaciated wreck, but he had not abandoned his street family. Unlike a disappointing number of baby daddies, Gideon stuck with the baby momma we also took in and helped her raise the puppies. Credit where credit is due.

Since arriving, he has put weight back on, completed heartworm treatment and had a benign mass removed. He is finally ready for a home, and his expectations are both modest and specific: soft things. Sofas. Dog beds. I believe he would happily wear a cashmere onesie if someone would get his measurements.

Gideon loves people and naps, ideally in close proximity to each other. He is great with other dogs and cats. He would simply prefer that the people not scream and that the dogs not jump on him. He has raised his children and does not need to be tackled by yours. He is a sweet, easygoing, excellent boy who would fit beautifully into a home where affection is plentiful and nobody thinks his afternoon nap needs to become a group activity. He is happy to have company. He would just like that company to have some manners.

Gideon has spent enough of his life getting by. We would like the rest of it to involve being fussed over by someone who thinks his well-worn face is perfect. A good sofa would also help.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please apply online, at https://bigfluffydogs.com/dog-adoption/ and email katrina@bigfluffydogs.com. Our main website, www.bigfluffydogs.com has more information about us and the rescue process. Gideon is in Nashville, but can travel a lot of places. BFDR has established transport networks and foster homes across most of the eastern United States, so this dog can be safely and comfortably transported to approved adopters in your area.

NOTE TO EMAILERS FROM PETFINDER: UNLESS YOU FILL OUT AN APPLICATION, WE DO NOT KNOW YOU OFFICIALLY EXIST. Please be sure to do the application in addition to emailing the coordinator as the application will get a response.

All known information about an individual dog is provided in its listing. We do our best to provide accurate information, but adopters should understand that each home is different and the dog may behave differently in a new home. Dogs are creatures of their environment and you help make the dog what it will be.
