Prefers a home without
Children, other animals. Due to Malamutes high predatory behavior, we do not recommend small animals or cats. While Gibson isn't terribly interested in cats while they are calm, we cannot guarantee he is ok with cats, especially once they start running around.

Petfinder recommends that you should always take reasonable security steps before making online payments.

Meet Gibson "Good Boy!"

Born in September 2017, Gibbs is a big bouncy boy weighing 110 lbs. He typically doesn't pull & we are thankful for that! He is mostly non-reactive with other dogs. Gibbs thrives with force-free training, which offers a choice to make good decisions and builds a trusting relationship with humans.

BACKGROUND: Gibson came to the rescue from a shelter where he was turned in because his owners were moving out of the country. He will need to be potty trained inside a home.

PERSONALITY: Gibson is a typical independent Malamute and sometimes life becomes too exciting and Gibbs will put the leash in his mouth and try to take himself on a walk. In a calm and positive tone, we tell him he is a good boy, toss him a treat to catch and this gives him reassurance.

Off Switch Game: After a dip in the creek, Gibbs gets excited and "checks in" by offering eye contact and is rewarded. Then we move away from the exciting creek and place kibble on the ground to encourage sniffing and relaxation. Gibbs loves this and goes into the down position to sniff, crunch on kibble, and relax. Then we repeat when he is ready for another dip in the creek (which is a reward too). He LOVES this game!

LIKES: He enjoys dipping his head into water buckets, hikes, sniffing, and catching treats tossed in the air. He also likes playing the "find it" game. He knows "sit", "touch", and "down" cues. He is super smart. He does well walking with some male dogs on opposite sides of the street and has been friendly with most female dogs. (No to male dogs in the same household and small pets.)

Gibson enjoys chasing cars, so we offer him a choice. He can (a) chase the car or (b) go to the human & earn treats. That's an easy choice, TREATS! Offering a choice helps create a positive association with cars on his terms.

HEALTH: Gibb's is sturdy & nicely proportioned. He has a healthy appetite too.

**Northern Breed experience and fear & force-free experience required.**

The information on your application will help CHAAMP determine which of our dogs is a good match for you and your family, based upon your lifestyle, other pets, etc. A home visit is required prior to all adoptions. Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and cannot be visited until you have been approved for adoption.

ADOPTION FEES
~Adult dogs, the fee is $275.00
~Older dogs (eight years old or over) the adoption fee is $100.00
~Puppies between 6 months and 1 year are $350.00
~Puppies under 6 months old are $375.00

All dogs are micro chipped, spayed and neutered and up to date on vaccines. These fees help us cover these costs. The rates are higher for puppies because they require more visits to the vet and shots.
