Gertie - STUNNING!'s Story
Gertie has been in the local shelter for a few weeks and has been waiting patiently to get her spot in a rescue so she can find her forever home! She was dumped out in the country and we really don't know why because she is such a sweetie. She knows how to sit for treats, fetch her toys and bring them back (sometimes), and is potty-trained. We think she is around 18 months to 2 years old. Gertie has a gold colored eye and a crystal blue eye. Her coat is a gorgeous brindle color. We have no idea of her breed, but possibly lab mix with some type of pointer?? A DNA test would be great to figure out just exactly what she has in her.
Gertie was on her own for a while and was probably around other dogs in her travels. She has been introduced to her foster siblings and she has done well with them. She just needs a proper introduction one at a time. She loves to run and play and stretch her legs. She is learning to walk on a leash and is doing well with it. She is kennel-trained and will not potty inside if taken out on a regular schedule. Gertie loves to give you kisses and is learning to not jump up when told to stay down. She is just eager to let her foster mommy know she is grateful for breaking her out of doggie jail. Because of her size, we suggest if you have little kiddos, be cautious of Gertie's size. She isn't aware of her size and thinks she is a lap dog.

Watch her video of how she loves to get her belly rubs!! Watch it at https://youtube.com/shorts/fhW46oIXNyI

Gertie is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. All dogs 6 month + receive a Proheart 6 injection at the time of their heartworm test. This provides heartworm prevention for 6 months from the time of that injection. This dog has tested negative for heartworms. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368.

WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you!

If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05.

TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get a confirmation. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back.

After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling!
