Genna (MO)'s Story

Genna is a petite 2 year old bluetick girl waiting in the St. Louis area for a new home. As soon as she arrived in her foster home, Genna's aloof and avoidant personality changed completely; she zoomed around the house, smelling everything with a wagging tail, eager to be petted and accept treats. She has the same reaction to new people: initially cool then warms up fast. In good weight at 43 lbs, she is housetrained and will whine at the door to go outside. Her foster mom is introducing her to cratetraining. Genna doesn't pull excessively on leash until there is a really good smell she wants to reach. She perks up when she sees another dog on her walk but doesn't try to go towards the dog or bark. After slow introductions, Genna enjoys playing with other dogs; she and the resident coonhound are now best friends and race around the yard playing with chews and toys. Genna seems quite happy to share, and they switch back and forth playing keep-away. When she makes her boundaries known, it does not escalate. She has also shown no signs of resource guarding so long as the other dog does not try to get into her food bowl. She is calm and has very good manners in the car.
