Genevieves story started when she was just a tiny potato of about one week old. Her mama had been abandoned, wandered up to someones home looking for safety, and gave birth. Thankfully, this little family found their way to us, and Genevieve has spent the last few months growing from itty-bitty newborn into a certified Professional Human Companion. According to Genevieve, the Puppy Handbook is very clear:<br/><br/>Rule #1: If your human sits down, you sit down too.<br/>Preferably touching them.<br/><br/>Rule #2: If your human moves to another room, congratulations—you also live in that room now.<br/><br/>Rule #3: Morning coffee is a group activity. <br/>No, she does not necessarily need her own cup. She simply feels strongly that she should be seated beside you while you enjoy yours and maybe try to sneak in a lick or two when she thinks you aren't watching.<br/><br/>Rule #4: Affection should be readily available at all times.<br/><br/>Rule #5: Why sit over there when you could sit right here?<br/><br/>Genevieve is, quite simply, a LOVER. She wants to be beside her people, involved in whatever theyre doing, and preferably close enough to supervise their beverage choices. She may only be three months old, but Genevieve has already mastered one of the most important lessons in the handbook: Home isnt really a place. Its wherever your person happens to be sitting. And Genevieve? She fully intends to be sitting right beside them. <br/><br/>Genevieve Mushaluk has developed a very simple philosophy about life: Everyone loves Genevieve. People? Obviously. Kids? Absolutely. Dogs? Of course. Grouchy dogs who are actively growling at her and requesting that she please vacate their personal bubble? Genevieve: They just haven't gotten to know me yet. <br/>When another dog gives her a grumble, Genevieve doesn't get offended. She rolls onto her back, turns on the charm, and begins scooching toward them inch by inch while licking the air. Scooch. Air lick. Scooch. Air lick. Until presumably the other dog realizes resistance is futile. Genevieve is equally confident in her ability to win over humans. She makes friends with pretty much everyone she meets and considers introductions an unnecessary formality. Handshakes? Immediate kisses? There are simply no boundaries where love is concerned. Cats remain an unanswered question. Genevieve hasn't officially met one yet, although given her current belief that every living creature is simply a friend she hasn't kissed yet, her foster suspects she could do well. As always, introductions would need to be done properly. Kids? LOVE. THEM. Honestly, Genevieve loves everybody.<br/><br/>Genevieve doesn't need a home packed with constant activities, hiking trips, or a social calendar more impressive than yours. Her energy level sits around a nice 5/10, and she's perfectly capable of settling down. Her dream itinerary looks more like:<br/><br/> You drink coffee Genevieve sits beside you.<br/> You watch TV Genevieve watches you watch TV.<br/> You hang outside Genevieve hangs outside.<br/> You decide to adventure Genevieve says, Cool, I'm coming.<br/> You do absolutely nothing FINALLY, an activity she can really get behind.<br/><br/>She's less concerned with what you're doing and much more concerned with whether she gets to do it with you. That makes her pretty versatile. A fenced yard would certainly be wonderful, but we also think she could adjust well to a home without one as long as her family is committed to regular leash walks. At three months old, Genevieve would like everyone to keep their expectations reasonable. She knows sit. Potty training is coming along nicely—she knows she's supposed to go outside, and if her humans fail to provide timely transportation to the restroom, she'll look for a pee pad. Kennel training? Not yet introduced. Chewing things she shouldn't? Please refer back to the section titled She Is Three Months Old. Random mischief? Again, management respectfully directs you to She Is Three Months Old. She's also discovered toys, enjoys playing with them, and has a particular appreciation for the sprinkler and hose. Pools, however, have yet to receive Genevieve's official endorsement. <br/><br/>For all her outgoing, affectionate silliness, there's a softer little heart underneath it. Her foster feels Genevieve is a bit sensitive. Harsh yelling may cause her to shrink back and temporarily tuck away that big, loving personality of hers. She'll do best with people who understand that puppies learn through patience, consistency, positive reinforcement, and approximately 47 repetitions of something you were positive they understood yesterday. Genevieve doesn't need someone who runs marathons. She doesn't need someone who spends every weekend climbing mountains. She doesn't even necessarily need another dog, although she's certainly happy to have canine friends. What Genevieve really wants is her person. Because according to the Genevieve Mushaluk Handbook, the secret to a happy life isn't particularly complicated: Find your person. Love them ridiculously. And stay close enough that they never have to drink their coffee alone. <br/><br/>Now comes the paperwork portion of the Genevieve Mushaluk Handbook. <br/>No, commenting MINE!!! does not legally transfer ownership of Genevieve to you. Neither does tagging your spouse and saying LOOK AT HER . Neither does telling us that your cousin's neighbor had a Great Pyrenees in 2007 and therefore you are basically family. You will need to fill out an adoption application for Genevieve. Once your application has been received, we can send it over to her foster family so they can determine whether you and Miss Everybody-Loves-Me might be the right match. And one final teensy-weensy logistical detail that we are putting right here in actual words because apparently teleportation technology continues to disappoint us:<br/><br/> Genevieve's adopter will need to pick her up in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She will not be shipped. She will not be DoorDashed. She will not be placed on a magical rescue FloofBus making stops in all 50 states. You apply. You get approved. You come pick up your new tiny best friend.
