Gemma's Story

Hi friends! I'm Gemma! I am the biggest lover of all humans!! I love greeting new people and getting pets and hugs all over. I would do well with kids unless they are very small then I may accidentally knock them over. I want to be your constant companion - I am very loyal and love to be around my people. I promise to always greet you with a big smile on my face and ready to give you love! I pull on the leash when we first start on a walk (or if I want to go sniff something) but after a few minutes then I walk well on leash! I am not high-energy. I would like 1-2 short walks per day or to just sniff and run around in your yard. Otherwise I would like to lay down and relax with you.

I came to Animal Services in pretty rough shape with very infected eyes and an injury to my left eye. The infections have cleared up and my left eye is healing great! The vet says I am an excellent patient and only need to continue some eye ointment for another few weeks.

I like to be queen bee and for this reason, GRHS thinks I would do best as the only dog in the home to get all the love from my people. I used to live with another dog, but I am picky about other dogs I might live with in the future. I do ok at adoption events around lots of dogs once I've settled in, and I do sometimes pull towards other dogs on walks. For a possible brother or sister dog who lives with me, I would need a very slow intro so I can really get to know the dog first. I do not want to be in a furever home with cats. They look a lot like toys and sometimes I can get a little too excited when I see them!

Apply to adopt me today!!
We do not see Petfinder inquiries! Please visit our website www.grandrivershumane.org to fill out an adoption application and learn more about our upcoming adoption event locations.
