Gage's Story
Gage is approximately 1.5 years old and is a Australian Shepherd/Shetland Sheepdog mix. He is currently 37 pounds and came to us from the Bath County, KY shelter. He is very timid when he first meets new people, but is a lovely dog when he gets to know you. It took about 3 days for him to decompress in his current foster home and start coming out of the hallway into the common areas with humans and other pets. He does interact well with the other dogs and is especially fond of the females (even though they have been spayed). He isn't bad with males by any means, he just is not as interested in them. He definitely appears to need some leash work, but we are currently allowing him to just hand out and get the hang of things living in a home. We can only guess from the condition of his coat and the fleas and ticks that were present on him that he has either never lived indoors or had been outside for quite some time. Thus far, he has been the perfect house guest and is assimilating very well. He has even offered his foster mom some kisses and follows her around the house. Gage is currently in KY until his neuter is complete and then would be available to move to any of the areas where we have fosters and volunteers (i.e. OH, MD, VA or WV). If you are interested in Gage, please email iPAWinc2022@gmail.com for an application or additional information.
