Meet Fritz

Fritz is an eight month old, 10 lb Shihchon. Fritz is playful and enjoys chew toys at this time. Chew toys are essential at this stage as he will chew furniture, and people, if not provided a chew toy. Fritz currently exhibits sporadic aggression to males, even if said males have had positive experiences with him. He enjoys sitting in laps and following you around your home. He is leash trained with a Gentle Leader. He is a very energetic pup and requires a lot of mental stimulation. He enjoys fetch games. He is also a bit of an acrobat / parkour enthusiast, so a fenced yard with no escape gaps would be ideal.

Currently he is not completely housebroken. He exhibits small amounts of separation anxiety. Due to his long spine, Fritz should not be handled by inexperienced persons. Fritz appears to be a non-shedding breed, however this does not guarantee he is hypoallergenic.

Fritz is not for the first time dog owner nor for families with infants. His mannerisms indicate he was not properly cared for, by at least one household member, in his previous home. At the same time Fritz exhibits qualities which indicate he was loved by someone, at some point.

Expect Fritz to be very timid in social settings. He will need to trust you and does not appear to have been socialized properly. Once he knows he can trust you, he will bond to you. His bonding appears to be of the protective nature. He exhibits protective aggression towards strangers. These conditions can be corrected with positive reinforcement and should not be permanent characteristics. He has made great strides in confidence during his foster care. His adoptive parents should be aware he will need continued training with patience and consistent diligence to fully enjoy his true loving and devoted nature.

Fritz is a terrier breed. Homes with birds and/or rodents are NOT a good fit for Fritz. He will come to you with his carrier, his blankets and a few toys. Expect to dedicate about 11-14 years to him as a companion pet. Fritz will requires daily brushings and regular veterinary visits. Fritz's adoption fee is $300.

- You must fill out an adoption application before you are allowed to meet the animal. Please complete the adoption application located on our website: https://smalldogsminnesota.org/adoption-application/

- Small Dog Rescue of MN does not negotiate the adoption fee on our dogs and we must charge sales tax on all adoption fees in order to comply with Minnesota state law. Please note that SDR is philosophically opposed to the idea of buying and selling animals, and we support any future legislation that would remove sales tax from adoption fees. Until then, however, it must be charged.

- Please note that we do not have a shelter, and all dogs are in foster homes. Since we strive to provide the best possible care for our animals, sometimes we cannot answer emails promptly. Please allow 48 hours for us to respond to you.

- You must be 18 years of age to make an adoption request.
